'It is lucky that I am alive,' model declares

Tatyana Simmanava?

Her million-dollar face covered in gauze, model Tatyana Simanava charged yesterday there was no sign on the bus exit door she mistook for a bathroom, sending her tumbling onto a Brooklyn highway.
"I am not angry, but I would like that there are some changes made, that nothing like this can happen again," the Belarus-born beauty said from her Mount Sinai Medical Center bed.

"I am sure that ... the exit doors have to be locked and they have to be marked. There were no signs."

Simanava, 21, who lives in Chelsea, fell onto the Gowanus Expressway Tuesday while traveling to a bridal-modeling gig on a luxury bus leased from Hoboken-based company On Time Elite.

Linda Safir, On Time Elite's founder, said, "I think that [the doors] are marked. "I'm very confused as to how she could have done this."

Dressed in a hospital gown and surrounded by vases full of flowers, Simanava recounted a quite different story.

"I asked where the bathroom was and I was told it's down the stairs, there's a door," she said.

"I opened the first door I saw, and I don't remember anything after that. My friends told me the bus driver saw me fall.

"Everybody said it is lucky that I am alive."

Simanava, who was discovered by talent spotters in Belarus five years ago, suffered heavy bruising to her right arm - but, miraculously, no broken bones.

Her face was covered in gauze yesterday, with only her nose, lips and heavily swollen right eye visible.

She said her jaw was so beaten she has been unable to chew any food.

But she added her battered appearance was only temporary.

"I will get better, and I'm told there will be no scars," she said.

"[Doctors] said I may go home this weekend. I feel very hopeful, grateful that people care about me, and very lucky. I just want to get well soon and come back to work."

She conceded her return to the fashion world could be a few months away.

"For a great picture, I have to look perfect," she said.

This is just...

I mean...

I'm lost for words.

I do think that they should put signs there though... I mean we've all been there where we've wanted to go out of the bus and ended up stuck in the little toilet. It was only a matter of time someone did it the other way round.

This reminds me of a sad story :

Years back, simply red's singer, mick hucknall, was almost married to some pretty blonde model.
She travelled back to her mother's for a last fitting ( wedding dress).
She was on a british train. She leaned against the door as the train was running. The door opened, she fell. She died.

There are things that need to be done.

As this model says, she is lucky to be alive.

You are not allowed/It's stupid to lean against a door when the train is running. What a shitty train anyways if it opened.
No safety measures can save a careless person.

You dick.  A fucking lock on the door might have helped!  The doors on modern british trains CAN'T swing open, as they are usually operated by electric lock mechanisms... and don't swing outwards, but slide.  Therefore, you can lean all you want... if it started to open, you'd have time to have a nap on it before you fell....

That's a horrible story tho... How awful must it have been to slip and fall out ... she must have been scared out of her mind before she died... :(

poor girl i do feel sorry for her but it does remind me of one very funny episode of the Young Ones Bambi, Vyvyan is on an InterCity train by one of the doors and he reads out the sign "Do Not Lean Out Of The Window" ?"I Wonder Why" and he proceeds to lean out of the window just as the train enters a Tunnel his head comes of the train stops and he then procedes to run up the track chasing his head and kicking it along the floor. Classic 80's Anarcic Comedy

here is the official Script to that section for those interested

Vyvyan: [Giving a cup to Rick] There you are, Rick, that'll be five quid.
Rick: Five pounds for an empty paper cup?
Vyvyan: It had sugar in it. [Rick gives him the fiver, which he rips in half and splits with Mike]
Mike: Who are we playing, anyway, Neil?
Neil: Footlights College, Oxbridge. It's going to be really heavy and tough.
Vyvyan: [pulling out a thick book] Well, I've done my revision.
Mike: [reads the book's title] "The Daily Mirror Book of Facts: Did You Know".
Neil: Do you think that's where they get the questions from? [Neil starts reading the book with great interest] "The world's record for stuffing marshmallows up one single nostril..."?
Vyvyan: Ehhh, "Six-hundred and four, Toxteth O'Grady, U.S.A."?
Neil: Yeah, right! "World's stickiest bogey?"?
Vyvyan: Ha! Tried to fool me. That's Toxteth again!?
Rick: The World's Stupidest Bottom-Burp: Vyvyan, Britain!?
Neil: It says "Rick" here, actually.?
Rick: Give me that! [Rick grabs the book]?
Vyvyan: See, I've done my revision. I'm going off now to stuff loads and loads of paper down the toilet. [Vyv exits]?
Mike: [to camera] I've often wondered who did that.?
[SCENE: Vyvyan next to the train door. There is a window with a sign above it.]
Vyvyan: [reading the sign] "Do Not Lean Out of the Window". I wonder why??
[Vyv leans out the window and the train goes into a tunnel. He is decapitated, with appropriate screams and blood gushing from his head. He pulls the emergency cord.]
[SCENE: back to the other three guys as the train stops]
Rick: Oh good heavens, what now?
Mike: Somebody must have pulled the communication cord.?
Rick: Well, it wasn't me, matey. If British Rail want fifty pounds they can blimmin' well go out and become a prostitute. Which they virtually are, anyway, come to think of it.
[to camera] Right, commuters?
Neil: Oh, no, we'll never get there on time now.
Mike: Relax, Neil. Bambi's a personal friend. I introduced him to Walt Disney.
[SCENE: Outside on the tracks, Vyv's headless body is stumbling around. Vyv's head is on the ground, shouting directions.]
Vyvyan's head: Over here, over here...You took your time, you bastard!
[Vyv's body kicks his head along like a football]
[SCENE: Back in the train car]
Rick: Come on, come on! Get the thing started! God, what excuse is it this time? I suppose they'll be telling us they've been held up my Mexican bandits.
[SCENE: Outside by the engine car. Mexican bandits are holding the Train Driver at gunpoint.]

Sure, then you have to sit in there crying until someone lets you out...

Seriously, don't most buses have windows in the exit doors?  I'm thinking that would be a clue.  And how big was the bus that she had to ask for directions to the bathroom?  I want to see a picture of this bus to try to figure out how a person of "normal" intelligence walks off a moving bus.  I work with mentally retarded people and they don't do that.  Well one did, once, but that's a whole different story.

Sterling, I've been thinkin about that, too.

I can figure the whole episode in my head when she has a big exclamation and a guestion mark and ? think she really had to go, that or she had had a sandwitch which needed to be thrown up  :)

I wonder what sound she made when she fell off.

Maybe it was a russian curse?
