I don't think he locked his breaks on purpose, but he COULD have made the corner easily if he wanted. On the onboard you can clearly see that halfway thru the corner he was not steering to the right but just straight ahead! And then at the last moment he steered to the right but then he had to stop cause he was stuck. he just took advantage of the break locking and decided to park his car there. Schumi knew Alonso was quicker and pulled this kind of stunt. Suits him... www.crash.netTeams furious at Ferrari at Schumi 'tactics'.
Several teams have expressed their anger at what they believe was a deliberate attempt by Michael Schumacher and Ferrari to safeguard their pole position by blocking the circuit in the dying seconds of qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix.
The German was in provisional pole position when on his final lap 'locked-up' around Rascasse and caught the barriers, with Schumacher leaving his car stranded on the penultimate corner.
With little room to manoeuvre around the Monaco circuit, Schumacher's incident caused championship rival Fernando Alonso, who was on probable pole winning laps, to back off and have to settle for second place on the grid.
Although Schumacher in the press conference insisted that there was nothing he could do, several teams are calling Ferrari a 'disgrace', with Flavio Briatorie in particular venting his anger on television at what he considers a deliberate ploy to keep Alonso off pole position.
A protest is reportedly set to be issued by a number of teams, making Schumacher's pole position provisional for the moment. |
