Title: The Jackson-Beatles Connection
Post by: Mattman on February 12, 2005, 04:06:16 PM
Hey, did anybody else ever realize that the riff to Michael Jackson's "Black or White" sounds almost exactly like the main riff in the Beatles' "It's All Too Much"?  Check it out...there's a definite similarity in there.

I'm not sure about this, but I think MJ bought the rights to Beatles songs

Yeah, he did, and Paul wasn't too happy about it.  They used to be friends before (The Girl Is Mine), but not anymore.

I'm gonna check out what mattman's talking about.

It's safe to say Paul, Yoko, George Harrison (when he was alive) and Ringo Starr dont like Michael Jackson. I dont like the dude either I've always hated thriller and I know people are like blah blah.

But whatever man the guy buys the catalog his friend wanted which is his. Thats total backstabbing, plus the guy is a child molester. Don't give me the bullshit that he isnt, hes a freak. Using the same excuse he used in the early 90s. Cant wait till hes found guilty.

yes but as far as i know it is only the publishing rights to the songs that jackson/sony owns, the Beatles still receive writers royalties...im not sure if that would give jackson the automatic rights to capitalise on thos songs by duplicating some of their content...

Paul McCartney didn't buy the publishing rights back. Michael still owns them but I believe he mortgaged half to Sony. I know Sony is involved somehow with the rights.

So that's why Black & White sucks ;)

I think u'll find virtually every song has an element that sounds very similiar to another song - there are only some many riff combinations, and frequently one song will inspire another - after all people alledge all Slash's work is reworkings of Led Zepplin numbers.....

I also just listened to the MJ song "Give in to Me", and it sounds so much like Dokken's "Alone Again" it's not even funny.
