The Rolling Stones ) issued a statement on Tuesday (2/7) expressing the band's disappointment about the censorship of parts of two of the three songs the band performed during Sunday's (2/5) Super Bowl XL halftime show."The Rolling Stones thought the censorship of their songs by the NFL/ABC was absolutely ridiculous and completely unnecessary," said the statement, attributed to a band spokesperson.

The NFL cut Stones frontman Mick Jagger's microphone during sexually suggestive passages of two songs, "Start Me Up" and "Rough Justice." Only "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" made it through the censors unscathed.

An NFL spokesperson told the Associated Press that the Stones were aware of the league's plan to lower Jagger's mic during the passages; the band's spokesperson didn't dispute that point.

ANYBODY SEEN MY BABY, is a great song too, sadly they never played it...

they have played it, on the Bridges to Babylon tour

I think its a great song too, but it doesnt fit in the setlist, there are too many classics to play and, although a good song, Anybody Seen My Baby doesnt deserve a spot in the set

Thats my opinion anyway

a bit sad that the stones were censored...i dont think that sort of censorship really matters anymore...you cant really corrupt people with 2 words hihi

Probably man, but "ASM baby", has a nice vibe... It would be interesting to see them playing it live again...

another reason they probably dont play it live because the chorus was kind of accidently ripped off from a kd lang song, constant craving i think it was...they probably have to pay royalties everytime they sing it

The greatest thing about this Superbowl thing was the interview they did with Jagger

Interviewer: "Is the Superbowl the event you always wanted to play?"

Jagger: "No, not really"

The stones are excpected to play a free concert saturday to about 1,500,000 people in Rio

The Stones landed in Rio at 2:40 this morning. They did not talk to the press and were immediately driven to their hotel under a strong security scheme, A bus and a Mercedes left the airport at 3 am, escorted by 30 policemen in motorcycles, 15 police cars and private security. They took the longest route to the hotel to avoid the "red line" (dangerous district). They entered the hotel through a back door, disappointing some 100 fans that were waiting at the main entrance.

Ron Wood showed up in the balcony holding a cell phone.Later Keith showed up as well.

They have requested a car to do some sightseeing today and are expected to visit a samba school tonight or tomorrow. After the show they bare expected to go directly to Buenos Aires.

The Rolling Stones gave a free concert in Rio on Saturday night and more than one million fans turned up for the gig.

The city was in crowd control mode for the gig with more than 10,000 police officers rostered for crowd control duty.

The setlist was fairly consistent with the current A Bigger Bang world tour shows with no real surprises to mention.

The show was filmed for an expected DVD release later this year.

As happened in the North America, the Stones and U2 and weaving in and out of cities, both on major tours.

U2 will be in Australia mid-March and Stones dates are expected to be late April.

The Stones setlist for Rio, February 18, 2006 was:
1. Jumping Jack Flash
2. It's Only Rock'n Roll
3. You Got Me Rocking
4. Tumbling Dice
5. Oh No Not You Again
6. Wild Horses
7. Rain Fall Down
8. Midnight Rambler
9. Night Time Is The Right Time
10. This Place Is Empty
11. Happy
12. Miss You
13. Rough Justice
14. Get Off Of My Cloud
15. Honky Tonk Women
16. Sympathy For The Devil
17. Start Me Up
18. Brown Sugar
19. You Can't Always Get What You Want (encore)
20. Satisfaction (encore)

Yeah, it's hardly surprising either, I mean here's a guy (Mick Jagger) that's toured the world over many many times, selling out stadiums wherever they play, what did he honestly expect him to say?

Went to the Stones show in Sydney last night and WOW, what a f**king awesome show, they played all their hits and every song played was a classic. These old guys perform like a bunch of 20 yr olds, particularly Mick Jagger!

If you wanna see how a big rock show is done right, look no further than these guys. ok
I paid pretty high for my ticket, but it was worth every cent! beer

They played all their hits and I was happy to hear them play Dead Flowers (which GN'R used to cover) and Angie (which VR have covered), so it was almost like? a GN'R show! Grin

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has suffered a mild concussion while vacationing in Fiji and was flown to a hospital in New Zealand as a precaution, a spokeswoman for the band said in a brief statement Saturday.
Media reports in Australian and New Zealand said Richards hurt his head when he fell out of a palm tree at an exclusive Fiji resort.
"Earlier this week Rolling Stone Keith Richards suffered a mild concussion while on holiday in Fiji," the statement said. "Following treatment locally and as a precautionary measure he flew to a hospital accompanied by his wife Patti for observation."
No further details on the 62-year-old rocker's condition were immediately available.
Newspapers in the Fairfax media group reported in their Sunday editions that Richards was flown to the Ascot
Hospital in the northern New Zealand city of Auckland on Thursday after the accident.
Steve Kirby, duty manager at the Ascot Hospital, refused to confirm Richards was a patient there, citing the hospital's privacy policy.
The Fijilive.com news Web site reported that the accident was believed to have happened at Fiji's exclusive Wakaya Club resort.
Salesi Finau of the resort told The Associated Press that Richards and his wife recently stayed at the resort for about a week, but would not say when they left.
Finau also refused to comment on the reports Richards had an accident. "I am sorry, I do not have any comment on that," he said.
The Rolling Stones played a concert in Wellington, New Zealand, on April 18 as part of their "A Bigger Bang" world tour. According to the band's Web site, the Stones' next scheduled concert is at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, Spain, followed by 34 more dates across Europe.

It seems Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards will be going in for brain surgery following his fall from a coconut tree in Fiji last week.

What was originally announced as a mild concussion has now been upgraded to a brain hemorrhage, which is treated by drilling a hole in the patient?s head and allowing the blood to drain out.

This was allegedly discovered after Keef suffered continued headaches, supposedly AFTER his concussion diagnosis.

He is expected to make a full recovery after the operation is complete.

It is unknown how this will affect the remainder of The Stones? ?A Bigger Bang? world tour, due to resume in a few weeks.

Keith Richards had 'blood clot on brain'
Monday May 8 06:24 AEST

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=99111

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards is believed to have had surgery for a blood clot in his brain, and there are concerns about his condition.

It is understood the 62-year-old's condition was much more serious than previously reported and he remains in New Zealand while the rest of the Rolling Stones are gathered in Europe for the next leg of the band's world tour, the NZ Herald reported.

The newspaper said the operation was for a subdural haematoma, a blood clot that forms in the outer membranes of the brain, often from a torn vein. It can be caused by a fall or other head injury.

The operation was performed soon after he arrived in New Zealand from Fiji, the paper said, citing a source.

His condition was described at the time as a mild concussion.

Richards' New York-based publicist Fran Curtis denied earlier reports that he had suffered a brain haemorrhage.

She said over the weekend that he was in "good spirits" and was adamant he would join the rest of the band in Barcelona for the kick-off of the 35-gig tour as scheduled on May 27. She did not know when he would be leaving New Zealand.

Richards is believed to have fallen from a coconut tree at the exclusive Wakaya Club resort in Fiji on April 27.
