Title: Worst Album You Ever Bought
Post by: KeVoRkIaN on August 03, 2004, 01:18:57 PM
I'd have to say John Zorn "Hockey" was my least favorite.  I really like John Zorn but felt this album was pure tripe......

Like to see your least favs........

I like the single versions of St.Anger and Frantic only cause they don't repeat themselves 3 times

Ratt - Ratt and Roll 81-91...i like hair metal and all...but that was pretty awful...especially for a "greatest hits" album.

The Jungle is mostly for bashing other people's political views  :hihi:

Bad Obs. is a catch-all for music related stuff right?

Anyway, I think the worst album I ever bought is one called Pure Moods.  I went through a new-age phase (Enya type stuff) for a few months and wasted my $$   :crying:

Informatix probably self-titled, purple cover, horrible.

---All of the albums that were named are better, i'd take any one of 'em before this.

Probably 'the best of diamond Head'.

I was tempted to give it a go by Metallica's numerous Diamond Head covers. The songs are good, but their vocalist (whose name I can't remember) - ugh- he makes Justin Hawkins sound like Aretha Franklin.

St. Anger has got to be the worst rock album of all-time. I mean, yikes! ???

I really don't think St. Anger is as bad as people make it sound.  It's far better than ...And Justice For All, I think - less self-indulgent, more to the point.

I would say the worst album I ever bought, that I can think of, is Neil Young's Greendale.  Now, I LOVE Neil Young, but his discography varies greatly in quality.  This is definitely one of his worse albums - long pointless jams that take the same musical pattern to excruciatingly boring extremes.  It has only two good songs..."Falling From Above", and "Be The Rain", which is one of his best songs ever.  If the whole album were like "Be The Rain", I wouldn't be discussing it here.

Also, avoid The Best of Herman's Hermits.  I bought that a long time ago, and I would have been better off just listening to the oldies station they played all the songs on.

To each his own and all, but I don't agree at all. "Justice" is a classic. Great songs, great build-ups, good lyrics, good production, well written songs, melody and harmony, good solos, and heavy as shit.

St. Anger has no good songs. The entire album sounds like one big mush. There is no melody, the sound of the drums makes the entire CD hard on the ears and unlistenable, the lyrics are trite, there are no hooks, there are no guitar solos, and the vocals and the album as a whole sounds monotonous. I don't know what they were thinking when they released this album. It's just so bad.

Unquestionable justice is not only Metallica's worst album but the second worst album in my collection (after SOAD - Toxicity) Justice is shocking from start to finish - everything sounds wrong its as if all 4 of them went away did their own thing them mashed it together - the drums sound like they were written for a totally different song and the guitars are the most average i have ever heard

One is totally unremarkable - but its that godawful drum sound throughout the album which has prevented me listening to the album in years.....

Opinions suck, and mine is that Justice is Metallica's best album. The production sucks ass but musically it's brilliant, and that's what matters.

I personally don't have a lot of bad albums, because I have extremely good taste in music, but the worst ones I have are Bj?rn Lynne - Wolves of the Gods and the two The Kovenant albums that came after Nexus Polaris. Mayhem's Grand Declaration of War is no masterpiece either..

System Of A Down are class dude ok their studio stuff isn't great and ill admit i did sell my albums of theirs but i was short on cash and had to get rid of something and at the time i was not to keen but at Leeds last year they won me over again, they were also fuckin' hilarious guys when they had to stop after one song, chatting to the crowd and after the music was great i think they upstaged Metallica that night.  Speaking of Metallica St. Anger is their worst album my original view of the album was it's not bad now i hate it, as for Justice i used to think One was the only good track but now i love them all Blackened is one of my fave tracks of all time.  Anyway on topic worst album i have ever bought....mmmm.....

Metallica - St. Anger

Just to vary what people are saying ill mention some others:

Slash's Snakepit  - It's Five O'Clock Somewhere
Europe - 1982-1992
Various Artists - Appetite For Reconstruction
Limp Bizkit - Chocolate Starfish And......[Can't Remember The Rest of It]
Kid Rock - Grit Sandwiches For Breakfast
Duff Mckagan - Believe In Me [Can't believe i used to like it  ]

I like Believe In Me. It's of like a punk version of Paul McCartney's first album. It's sloppy and Duff plays most of the instuments, (McCartney played everything). It's a homemade album that reads like a diary.

I agree with Skeletor. ...And Justice for All is Metallica's best album. To Live is to Die is one of the best instrumentals ever. It has Blackened and Dyers Eve, great thrashers, and of course ONE. Everything else is good enough.

Anyway, my worst album is Motley Crue's greatest hits.  :-\ I should have just bought their first 2 albums and pretended they all died in 1984 of drug overdoses.

I used to love Motley Crue, but I lost interest in them. Way too dated and pretentious. They act like they were all bad ass and all and had all this street cred. They were just another cheese dick hair band, albeit better than most.

And one more to the list, any Linkin Park album. Man do those guys suck.

linkin park kick ass, i dont understand why people dont like them

A) People have taste.

B) People don't have enough teenage angst in them anymore for them to listen to some uncharismatic loser scream "I'M FEELING PAIN BECAUSE MY LIFE IS SO HORRIBLE CAN YOU FEEL MY PAIN!!!"

If you need more reasons, I can provide a few more  :D

Metallica - Load
Nirvana - Incesticide
Nirvana - Nevermind
Nirvana - In Utero
Poison - Hollyweird
Bon Jovi - This Left Feels Right

I can't believe some of the shit I used to listen to in the 90s. But now it seems that 80s bands like Poison, Bon Jovi and Metallica are trying to top that and put out crap that's even worse!

wait just a second popmetal

this left feels right is a great cd if u can seperate the old and listen to it for what it is

i applaud bon jovi for takin a risk and instead of giving another "Crossroad" greatest hits package with a different tracklisting, they put their balls out there and did something cool and different

jon felt its a rip off to put out greatest hits cds with a song or two extra on there, so he decided to give the fans something different

i find that refreshing and nothing wrong with it!

I agree with you D...i think that This Left Feels Right is a good album and a gutsy move by Bon Jovi.  It really shows the musical talent of the band..

As far as bad albums go...I forgot to mention the Batman Forever soundtrack....for a lousy Offspring track?!  what was I thinkin?!

Title: Re: Worst Album You Ever Bought
Post by: POPmetal on August 12, 2004, 04:28:36 PM
I guess This Left Feels Right isn't as bad as the other albums I listed, but I still think it was terrible, especially since it came out after Bounce, which I thought was a big step in the right direction for the band. The problem with TLFR is exactly the fact that it is NOT gutsy and different. Wanted Dead or Alive was really good. It's My Life was good, but very predictable. Always was interesting. Other than that, there ain't a whole lot on the album. Not even ONE of the remakes was better than the original. The only gutsy thing they tried was with You Give Love a Bad Name but it fell flat.  The rest of the album was for the most part predictable. They absolutely butchered Living on a Prayer. Bad Medicine and Lay Your Hands On Me were pathetic and felt out of place. Remakes of songs like like Diamond Ring, Something for the Pain, or Only Lonely would have fit the album much better, but then they wouldn't have been able to market it as a "greatest hits with a twist." I'm being tough on it only because I've come to expect a lot more from Bon Jovi. I don't know, maybe they were rushed by deadlines, or something, but I feel like it could have been a whole lot better.

i give u the bad medicine argument and livin on a prayer was fuckin butchered

always and bed of roses really dont sound very different

everyday was too poppy on bounce but the TLFR version fuckin gives me goosebumps

Ok dude i'll admit it's their worst album but it is by no means a bad album what about tracks like Bonehead, Breakin' Down, Into Another, Beat Yourself Blind, My Enemy??????

The 2 guys knocking M?tley Cr?e that's just uncalled for.  You think you should of got just their first 2 albums can't believe you think that their is not one album by them i don't like and i also think Too Fast For Love was actually one of their weaker albums.  I believe more recent stuff like Generation Swine despite being totally slated was very good the band tried experimenting with a new sound and i liked the results.  Afraid & Brandon are great songs

Ok now onto you POPMETAL knocking Poison's Hollyweird.  Now for some reason everyone seems to have a problem with this album i can't see why.  Now i love the band but i have to admit they often have fillers on their albums and you are best getting the greatest hits.  This though is their only album i feel has no filler i love every track especially Home (Bret's Story), Livin' In The Now & Hollyweird.

I don't think their old albums had much filler. Flesh and Blood is one of the best albums ever. For the most part Hollyweird sounds like a collection of old throwaways that didn't make it onto Look What The Cat Dragged In and Open Up. And I've heard demos that were produced and recorded better than Hollyweird.

The new one: Dance Of Death.

I don't have the X factor or Seventh Son and I don't know if it would change your opinion, but  I thought Dance Of Death was a really good album. It all depends on your taste though. I'm sure a lot of people would complain that it's "overindulgent" cuz it's full of 7+ minute epic songs. Then again a lot of people say the same about the Illusions.

Worst album i've bought in a while has to be...(cringes) Iron Maiden- The X Factor.? I know i know! i'm bad-mouthing Iron fucking Maiden but i just can't get into them.? I think they're terrible! I own Seventh son.. and the X factor.? i like metal but i just think they suck and are chessy from what i've heard. can anyone suggest an album that might perhaps change my opinion?

The new one: Dance Of Death.

I don't have the X factor or Seventh Son and I don't know if it would change your opinion, but? I thought Dance Of Death was a really good album. It all depends on your taste though. I'm sure a lot of people would complain that it's "overindulgent" cuz it's full of 7+ minute epic songs. Then again a lot of people say the same about the Illusions.

If you're introducing Iron Maiden to someone I really don't think Dance of the Death is a good choice to go with. IMO your best bet is to go with The Number of the Beast, which is proclaimed to be one of the greatest metal albums ever made. I think its something someone whose not too familiar with maiden could understand and if you don't like that you most likely wouldn't like their other work, and not everybody has to like iron maiden.

If you do like The Number of the Beast then you'd probably like Powerslave and Peice of Mind, and maybe their heavier stuff like Fear of the Dark and No Prayer for the Dying.
