GNR FOREVER!!!! AXL'S THE BEST!!!!!!!!!

« on: October 22, 2006, 11:47:32 PM »

looks like it'll be interesting, its one movie but One segment, Planet Terror, will be a zombie film written and directed by Robert Rodriguez. The other segment, Death Proof, will be a slasher film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino.

trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yal0BxZ7Bzwl

looks very cool but? i wasn't too fond of From Dusk Till Dawn which was a tarantino/rodriguez effort, we'll see i guess.

I can't wait for this movie!  Grin

I watched the trailer when it aired a few weeks ago on the Spike TV Horror/Sci-Fi awards. It really got me pumped for the movie. Plus it has Rose McGowan.  love

I'm pissed that Mickey Rourke dropped out. But I guess Kurt Russell will be a good replacement.

I'm pissed too. But I've heard that Mickey Rourke even turned down a cameo in the fake trailers between the two flicks. Guess he didn't liked the movies at all Grin

Rourke + Tarantino ... That would be great drool

they arent trying to pass of gore as art. its supposed to be fun. so many movies lack that element of fun these days. they arent trying to win an oscar or anything its just a fun tribute to the older horror flicks that they loved.

i am not a huge fan of rodriguez, i didint like From Dusk Till Dawn that much. but i love Tarantino, he writes the most brilliant and clever dialogue. so many directors try to cover up their lack of good dialogue with fancy explosions etc.. and so many writers use the dialogue only to further the plot and thats it. Tarantino always includes witty dialogue that doesnt get old no matter how many times u see the movie. Its that way with Pulp Fiction for me. i could watch that movie over and over again.

oh yeah of course i know it'll be drastically different from Pulp Fiction but i'm sure it'll have some obvoius Tarantino influences(at least his segment) like the witty dialogue etc..

There's someting about this movie that grabs me.  It seems so raw and edgy like movies back in the 80's. And Rose McGowan is off the charts HOT!!!

This movie reminds me of going to the drive-ins in the late 70's/early 80's.....3 features not long in length bak to back to back. I miss that. The Grindhouse brings back that energy, that atmosphere, that I felt when I went to the drive-in.

FEW years? he was awesome in terminator and aliens and that was during the 80's. i dont remember him in anything else worthwhile until now.

but yes it was great seeing him in Planet Terror. he was also awesome in the trailer for Thanksgiving, he had the best line:

"its blood......son of a bitch!"

Dude was in Tombstone which is probable one of the best western movies ever.

Grindhouse was pretty damn good. though not the best from both directors.

my opinion----

Planet Terror was crazy awesome (that means good),   funny as hell, gory as hell, hot babe with a gun/leg blowing stuff up-   its everything you could want in a movie

Deathproof was not nearly as good as planet terror-  the only cool parts is when Kurt Russel is doing crazy shit with his deathproof car-  but for the most part it was just a bunch of chicks yakking about nothing.

if i could do it all again i would have walked out after Planet Terror-  but thats just me.

Man, I loved this movie.  But Death Proof was superior to Planet Terror.   Quentins film-making skills just outshine Rodriguez.  Although I did really like Planet Terror. But the writing, pacing, acting, and photography were just on a whole other level with Death Proof.

eh, Death Proof was pretty dissapointing. Tarantino's usually excellant dialogue was really really boring in this one. but he made up for it with those crazy car chase/ sea mast sequences.

Planet Terror was flat out great tho.

well this had a pretty dissapointing open weekend, opened 4th with 11 million. but i guess it was decent considering the fact that it was Easter weekend and the movie was pretty much a 3 hours horror/comedy and there was so much talk about how violent it was so that could put off the casual movie fan. i have a feeling this movie will have good staying power tho and rake in around 10 million in each of the next couple weekends. and maybe do well on DVD as well, we'll probably have tons of bonus footage. i mean stuntman mike's lap dance was in the trailer but it was cut out in the movie, with the whole "missing reel" joke thing.

More woes for Quentin Tarantino on the heels of the dismal $12 million debut of Grindhouse: A group of film students are charging that the director ripped off their concept. "Quentin Tarantino is a thieving piece of s---, and he knows it. He stole Grindhouse from a bunch of kids who were just asking for his help, and he helped them by stealing their title and concept," writes Stephen Tramontana, a film student who made an indie film called Grindhouse back in 2003. Tramontana and company say they asked Tarantino to view their film, and he declined; they later FedEx'd a copy of the movie and the movie poster to him and never got a response. Two years later, Tramontana sees a Variety article announcing Tarantino's Grindhouse project, and is outraged. "I was heartbroken," Tramontana writes on his website. "One of my heroes had ripped us off ? It sucks, because now I'm that guy. I'm that guy stating that a big Hollywood player ripped off my idea." Hmmm. At any rate, curious moviewatchers can take a peek at the indie Grindhouse at Tramontana's website, for a mere 99 cents.

I took then this long to say something about this.... Roll Eyes

Also nice to see their trying to make a buck of their flick though.

Man, Quentin and Rodriguez have been talking about making exploitation flicks since they teamed up for From Dusk till Dawn.  They didnt rip anything off.  This guy just wants some free publicity.  He is using the fact that the movies have the same title, thats all.

Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is planning to re-release Grindhouse as two separate films - after the double-bill flopped at the box office. The film, a double-feature directed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez made just $11.6 million in its opening weekend in the US. Producer Weinstein is disappointed - and thinks Tarantino's Death Proof, starring Kurt Russell, and Rodriguez' Planet Terror, with Rose McGowan, will perform better on their own. He tells PageSix.com, "I don't think people understood what we were doing. The audience didn't get the idea that it is two movies for the price of one. I don't understand the math, but I want to accommodate the audience."

I hope the two keep making movies with the "grindhouse" theme.

But Taratino said his next flick is going to be a "dirty dozen"/"great escape" themed WWII flick. should be cool.

he has also talked about "The Vega Brothers" with John Travolta and Michael Madsen, Vincent and Vic Vega. honestly tho they seem a little old for that but it should be cool.

he always talks about tons of projects tho, like the Kill Bill prequel?/sequel? and inglorious bastards and now the vega brothers.
