News Exclusive: Led Zeppelin Tour Toronto This Summer
May 17, 2008

Everyone knows about Led Zeppelin's reunion show in London, UK this past December. Naturally, it was both magical and nostalgic. And a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity, right?

Maybe not.

So NME confirmed late last year that Led Zeppelin had plans to go on tour sometime in 2008. Well, a reliable source just gave me a scoop on some Toronto dates. Apparently these dates will be announced shortly...but now you know.

No fancy tour of the U.S., but Toronto will have FOUR dates at Skydome/Rogers Centre this coming August. AMAZING. Hardly any bands play Skydome anymore because it's such a juggernaut of a venue and impossible to fill unless you're, well, Led Zeppelin. Or maybe Backstreet Boys.

Stay tuned for an official tour announcement, but for now start saving your dollars (cause you KNOW it's gonna be expensive) and practising your Ticketmaster skills (cause you KNOW people will be flying in from all over North America to be here) for these amazing shows.

It is also the reason Plant doesn't want a world tour

Plant has been on tour for a while now, and the critics agree ... you are a troll. Take it elsewhere kid. We don't buy your bullshit. Sure, someone in their 60s doesn't have the voice of a "kid".

I enjoy seeing copyright protection actually working.  peace    we live in a day and age where your hard work can be easily stolen and taken for free.

comin from someone who stole GNR's leaks......

I see nothing wrong with bands reuniting.

U create amazing all time great music together, I think its  a shame bands breakup. U have one life and once its over u cant go back. So why n ot give the fans what they want, swallow your ego and get back together and continue something unique and great.

I hope they do go on a huge tour......... I wont go see it but it would be great for their fans.

Several spots are indeed open on the Rogers Centre calendar in August, including sequential dates Aug. 11-14 and Aug. 25-31. However, nothing has been booked for that month other than Blue Jays baseball and Argos football games, a Rogers Centre spokesperson said yesterday.

"Led Zeppelin does not have a August concert date at the Rogers Centre."

Led Zeppelin "preliminary" talks "confirmed" for Toronto

A spokesperson for Skydome told the Globe and Mail on Thursday that preliminary discussions are indeed under way for Led Zeppelin to play that venue in August. The schedule of the Blue Jays, among other things, however, would make it fairly tough to fit the four rumoured shows into the August time slot, but stadium communications manager Nadia Flamm did tell the Globe and Mail that "it is my understanding that some preliminary discussions are going on" about what would be Zeppelin's first North American shows in 20 years.

Not with that kind of attitude Undecided

If they're in negotiations, I see no reason why it couldn't happen.

To my Canadian friends: Can one enter the country without a passport? What are the credentials placed upon US Nationals?

BushCo have implaced restrictions. I'm wondering what the reciprocal arrangements might be?

I'm not Canadian, but I remember you did not need a passport 20 years ago ( last time I went to Canada).

After 9/11 you do need one if I remember correctly.

If you don't have a passport it takes about 6-8 weeks to get one, so plan ahead for it.

There was a new law put into effect last year that prohibits travel to Canada and Mexico without a passport.

To my Canadian friends: Can one enter the country without a passport? What are the credentials placed upon US Nationals?

http://explore.canada.travel/ctc/ke/things_to_know_2.jsp?cat=4004&localeId=1#visitors

1. Do I need a passport to enter Canada?

If you are a U.S. citizen, you only need a document such as your birth certificate and government-issued photo identification (e.g., driver's licence) to enter Canada. By June 1, 2009, or earlier, a new American law, the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), will require anyone, including U.S. citizens, entering or re-entering the United States by land and sea to have a passport or other appropriate secure document.

WHTI currently requires anyone, including U.S. citizens, entering or re-entering the United States by air to have a passport or a NEXUS card when used at a NEXUS kiosk at designated airports.

At this point, only requirements for travel by air to the United States have changed. Americans can continue to use documents such as their birth certificates and government-issued photo identification (e.g. driver's license) to cross the Canada-U.S. border by land and sea until the WHTI is fully implemented.

International visitors to Canada who are not U.S. citizens must carry a valid passport and visa (if required). Citizens from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Mexico, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia and others do not require a visa to enter Canada. Visit Citizenship and Immigration Canada online for a complete listing.

If you don't have a passport it takes about 6-8 weeks to get one, so plan ahead for it.

You can also go in person to most Passport Offices to drop off your application, and pay a little extra to have your passport ready for pickup in one week, two weeks; whichever you prefer.

Or in cases of urgency, you can pay a little extra to have one ready for pickup in 24 hours.

Just bring a good book, because the lineups tend to be attrocious hihi

By going the 6-8 weeks route, you have to mail the Passport Office your birth certificate, and therefore run the risk of having it lost in the mail.
