I have been trying to play it right since I was in highschool (like 10 years ago) and I just don't get it right! what is the trick? Howcome only slash can play it right, not even the new GNR guitar players can make it sound that cool.

Buy a wah wah pedal.... and set your sound old school....not too much gain and contour low as well.

I have the wah pedal and the old school sound. But the thing I just can't play is the long noise that sounds so cool before the classic riff in the intro right after duff bass jumps in. From 00:10 to 00:21. The Feedback like noise. how can I make that sound?

aah, just hit the strings, I think the 14th fret it was, then let em ring out a little bit and stand right before ya amp, if that doesn't work "tap" or knock on your guitar with your knockles. On the top emm you know how the slash signature guitar looks like? well knock on the snake logo! that's the spot  Grin

Ever heard of slash's feedback generator?? It's hard to explain, try to find it at google. the basics are a mesa boogie mark III and a volume pedal in a seperated room. I read something about it in an interview from 1992. He said he used it in the studio recording for YCBM.  Try to get a natural feedback would be my advice

The guitar he uses on YCBM have a whammy bar, I've seen he use it on the song many, many times live, and I don't know if you are a musician/guitarist, but if you are, you should be able to hear the parts he uses the whammy on YCBM, but if you ain't, than I totally understand why you can't hear it, as it takes some practice to hear the differance...    peace

Thanks for all the advices, I have tried a lot of stuff and I think Im getting a bit more the original sound but I definatley think I will have to buy some new picks for my guitar (I have two Gibson Epiphone guitars one that looks like a Les Paul and the other one like a Fender Stratocaster, I like more soloing on the strat).

I was wondering if somebody could recomend me some brands or models that would help sound more like Slash.
