So the white fumes came out and cardinals, looking tired and satisfied with themselves, pushed a glowing Ratzinger towards the crowd.

Hehehe.  Wink

But seriously...Well done to the guy...

I would of thought that they would of appointed someone younger, no disrespect to Ratzinger, i know nothing about him.
But surely someone younger with a more open look on Modern society and what goes on around us would of been more befitting of a posistion of such magnitude.

Who am i to comment...im not religious at all...however this guy is so IMPORTANT!

Why are you worried about a German pope

Who am i to comment...im not religious at all...however this guy is so IMPORTANT!

You can comment on him if you want, I'm not American but I will still comment on Bush so you can comment on the Pope

Seriously though if the guy is 78 then we'll only have him for a couple of years. I think Catholics should be allowed to elect their own pope rather than a bunch of old cardinals picking an even older person? Undecided

Damn... I missed the nomination deadline....

I was going to suggest "D" for the new pope. He said he likes wearing the "pope hat" around the house when he plays keyboard....

Oh well dude, maybe next time.

This i know *Izzy* but there are 1.1 Billion Catholics on this planet and for the sake of being P.C and not annoying anyone with my naive views on the situation, and the religion at that, id rather not say hes a bastard!

1. Because its highly likely he isnt.
2. Because if he is, i dont know this.
3. Religion is so sensitive, and i hope he does half as good a job as JPII did!

I didnt agree with a lot of JPII philiospohies on life and the biggest one being contraception in the third world to combat the spread of AIDS. Apparently, the new guy, has the same views.

That seems a sensible mature response to the announcement of a new pope, well done dear Roll Eyes

What an amazingly odd thing to say! Because of course Germans are wicked and ungodly people Roll Eyes

I'd like to say congratulations to Pope Benedict XVI and i hope he is successful in this massive duty. I hope that he upholds the tenets of his faith in an age where deliquents try to get any behaviour accepted.

Is there something you want to say?

Ratzinger's previous job/title was, "Head of the Office of Inquisition".

Looks like all the gays are going to hell again.

Business as usual.

Ironic that a non-Catholic like myself should have to defend the church.

All you "progressive-secularists" make me laugh.? What?? You think that just because the world's mainstream is going a certain way that a church's doctrine should follow?

Sorry, doesn't work like that.

They have a way keeping them alive. He'll live to be 90.

But what's the deal with the white smoke? Is it a symbol of his holiness?
