I vote for Shannon Hoon.

I've actually grown to hate Billy Corgan's voice (used to be a HUGE SP fan) so I'd vote for him.

Shannon Hoon's voice is one of the best in the history of music, not just rock. Have you ever heard a Blind Melon album or are you just starting shit for the heck of it?

I'm not that high on his voice but he sounds good on Don't Cry, The Garden, You Ain't The First etc.

I love Muse's vocalist, Matt Bellamy. i think your in the minority there Izzy.

Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins has a voice that is kind of an acquired taste. i used to dislike it but i've gotten used to it and i'm a huge fan now.

This is a bad video but the vocals on it are fantastic, imo better than any GN'R vocals even.

anything emo and screamo...all the vocalist suck. my chemical romance, atreyu, fall out boy...i could go on but i don't know many bands from that genre.. i kinda dig the music, but once the singer starts it just blows..

Either way, I'd have to go with any of today's emo bands.  Pick one and you can't go wrong.

* Placebo's singer voice is extremely irritating

* Chester, from Linkin Park, sounds very very gayish

Shannon Hoon's voice was beautiful. If you are not too much into GNR/Blind Melon, and you hear his voice in Dont Cry at Chicago 92, there's 99% of chances that you think that that voice comes from a woman. But a BEAUTIFUL woman's voice.

I agree.  Old Rush, to me, is almost unlistenable, due to the vocals.  The newer stuff, though...the vocals have mellowed, and are much better.

The lead singer of Little Birdy has an 'interesting' voice.
And I also think that Matt's voice makes it hard to access Muses' music. Good filmclips though.

I agree with Gary on both points.
Old Rush vocals sounds like a high pitched version of Axl Rose or Robert Plant.
But I prefer Geddys vocals from the 80s records.

James Hetfield. Only Kill em All he was good on.
Sebastian Bach was ok during the 80s. He sounded like crap onstage with GnR last year.
James LaBrie of Dream Theater has a special voice. Havent heard much where I can say I like his voice. Sounds abit too unedgy for the DT sound.
And of course any new crap is crap and double crap.

I don't mind Fred Durst. On some songs, his voice actually sounds quite good.

I was more surprised that there's been no mention of Scott Weiland. This being a GNR board and all...

Scott vocals are ok on studio, but he sucks live, specially on the GNR songs... he destroys them with no mercy...

I've always wondered if Yoko and Bono get their stupid sunglasses from the same place.

Mika - the guy who sings 'Grace Kelly'.

Mika does suck, thanks for reminding me. The Freddie Mercury comparisons are pretty shallow. Just like the people who compared the lead singer of Earshot to Maynard Keenan. Yeah. Right.

All joking aside, Mika does do a good Freddie.

wow the only bad stuff i've heard about Matt's voice is that people say its too similar to Thom Yorke's from Radiohead.
i've never really heard anyone say they just hate it lol. interesting

anyway i DESPISE James Blunt's voice, but i guess hes not really rock.

and the singer for Maroon 5 has an annoying voice too.

LMAO, Shannon Hoon is great. That guy could sing. R.I.P.

I would say maybe Bono from U2, I don't like his voice, even though he is a good singer.

Vince Neil is great also, "Don't Go Away (Just Go Away Mad)" is a prime example.

Crazy people to think Hoon is a bad singer...
