nah not really has nothing to do with talent...even his hulking up was stupid and predictable....didn't make his champ run impressive to me no

austin however, he had a cool move and an exciting title stint to watch

hogan was also in an era where titles reigns tended to last longer as a whole.

Its this simple.

Hogan made wwe what it is

But Austin saved it from what it could have become and people like bret and all the others in between could be as great a champion as they were but because of the time and place thats why i think Austin / Hogan are the top two. Closely followed by Bret

I think Neemo's post pretty much sums up this game

People couldnt seperate wrestling from being a champion

we are talkin pure champion here, HUlk HOgan was the biggest thing in wrestling history so that alone makes him the greatest champion

He lost to the Ultimate warrior on April Fools Day and people when they heard it thought it was an april fools joke, that is how big hulk hogan was.

To tell you the truth I think it was either going to be Austin or Hogan.

The fact is the late 90's fans were out in force at the times when it counted most.

Hogan and Austin are most worthy of being the greatest WWE Champion ever they are both from different era's Hogan is the man that put the WWE on the map and Austin is the man that helped re-build WWE again and defined the attitude era Austin like Hogan have had some of the greatest match up the WWE has seen. Its a shame Austin Vs Hogan never happend now that would rock the foundations!

In regards to the WWF/E you have to give it to Austin.? He was the driving force behind what saved Vince's ass when WCW was kicking butt and taking names (literally).? Austin brought fan-interest back to the company and kick-started WCW's down-fall at a time when the WWF was seriously close to going under.
