so if seeing slash, duff and adler performing together reminds you gnr... you aren't a true gnr fan?

Interesting question. I'm assuming you think only that "defines" a true fan. Which is wrong. Smiley

But maybe, just maybe, some of the people who make that kind of statements weren't real fans to begin with?

I'm assuming the same people were as excited when Izzy joined GN'R on stage in 2006......

Guns N' Finland

« Reply #142 on: November 24, 2009, 05:20:54 AM »

In my opinion, a true GNR fan is supportive of the bands current lineup, record and tour, but also acknowledges the bands history and all the people, who where part of the band since the beginning and made GNR one of the biggest bands in the world. Some of the people on this forum are always dissing former members and everything they do, as if the entire GNR history pre-CD is completely irrelevant and others are saying that Guns died when the former members left and everything after UYI is crap. That's wrong. A true GNR fan wouldn't side with either camp.

That being said, it was also very cool for me to see three former members of Guns N' Roses, from their classic 1986-1990 lineup (Jarmo, did I get it right?) playing together again. Smiley

Defining "fans" on the internet, yay!  Roll Eyes

That new Slash song sounds pretty good, its great to see he still has it in him, he has been phoning it in for too long. Hope theres a few more I like,  but I'd buy the album for this song.
It'll be the first Slash album I buy since Snakepit, nothing VR did grabbed me whatsoever, but this is swirling round my head after just 2 listens.

holy crap, this song is amazing  drool Nice to hear a real solo from Slash again!
Maybe Slash should've re-recorded some of VR?s material instead of PC and put some solos on it  ok

Great show!  Didn't like that Chester was reading the verses of "Slither" and so was Billy Idol during "Outta Get Me"...

In General:

The front of house sound guy did a terrible job throughout the night.  Things got better towards the end.  You couldn't hear most of the solos performed by other guest guitar players (Stockdale, Morello, etc) or Navarro when he did his solos.  Slash was low in the mix initially, then he was to high.  It was as if the sound guy was guessing which channel was whomever was doing the solo at the time - at one point he turned up the snare/hat mic and finally got the right channel by end of the solo...the opening band sounded way much better/clear (great band by the way, check them out:  Juke Kartel) in terms of house mix/sound.  They just saturated the house speakers with the main act.

 peace

c

I agree i flew out from Buffalo to see this and while it was an awsome show being up front the sound was off especially on the solos, i was told it was better in the back from  my friend who was standing next to the sound board. On a side note I'm pretty sure i seen C.C. Deville up in the balcony haha

Fuck... the way Paradise City finishes ( Duff y Slash waiting the sing of Popcorn) , it's the most Guns n' Roses thing I've seen in long time, (just comparing Axl / Izzy performance in 2006), that close up reminds me Ritz ' 88...
Steven has no the skills of Freese, Brian, Sorum or current drum player (I forget the name), BUT he has a very special charisma and knows how to transmit that essence of the old fuckin' Guns n' Roses. I love that  ok

no.. i'm not asuming anything about what defines someone as a true fan.. you either like the music or you don't.. if you like gun's music.. then you are fan.. if you don't.. then you aren't a fan... thats the extent of it for me.. you said something like you aren't a true fan if this reminded you of GnR.. and i disagree with that.. and i would compare it to when izzy joined axl on stage.. i just missed it and i was pissed that i was a the first show in nyc where only baz joined and i missed izzy

I don't agree with that statement at all. Give me Popcorn over any of those drummers especially Sorum.

Anyone else still loving this song? The riff is really catchy, and the solo is vintage Slash. Also loving the Zeppelin sounding vibe in Stockdale's voice.

3 Months till we get the album supposedly, which thankfully is not that long.

« Reply #156 on: November 24, 2009, 09:48:15 PM »

It's good to touch Ex.members together a band, usually happens in other groups, to me personally, this did not move a hair, if it makes me happy that people will pay attention, I continue to GUNS N 'ROSES, no solo careers of these 3 Ex.members.

On.Topic:

Good Performance, good Vocal, All Good, thanks FM By Videos.

^ loved it. thanks SG.

offtopic, but is the band Wolfmother as good as this song?  I heard Love Train a long time ago, and it was ok but I didn't follow up on them.

My appetite is whetted for this album, the songs with the rock singers at least.

this is really a dumb thing to say..

the "most Guns N' Roses" thing you've seen in a long time?  None of the guys playing are in Guns N' Roses.  you can't get "more Guns N' Roses" than the actual Guns N' Roses, who is about to embark on a tour of Asia and Canada, and possibly more dates around the world.
