I don't have it just yet but every review I've seen rates it very high (NME gave it 9/10!!!) And that new song is fantastic.

Good point but that was why I was so surprised to read a 9/10 review of Muse of all bands.

I saw them open for Depeche Mode in Stockholm last Friday.

One of the best opening acts I've ever seen. Cheesy

Listening to it as I type this.  It is very good, every bit as good as Absolution.  Fastly becoming one of my favorite bands.

Still searching for a solution

« Reply #9 on: July 12, 2006, 06:12:16 AM »

It's growing on me and seems to build on Absolution.

The feeling in the press after the last album and tour seemed to be that Muse could be the biggest British band in the world. They seemed to have tweeked the sound to be a lot more commerical and there is certainly more ballads present here.

I remember seeing them at Glastonbury a couple of years ago and people seemed a but perturbed they were headining the last night. After 90 mins of the three horsemen of the apocalypse beating out world-ending epic rock it was obvious they were gonna blow up pretty big.

I'm still amazed at the scope of the sound they make given there are only three of them.

i'm not too much into Muse, but i have the album since two weeks,
and it's a really great LP, with a lot of Queen influences.

i highly recommend it.

i'm a pretty big Muse fan, I have every album including the new one.  I'm kinda on the fence on this album.  It seems Matt Bellamy is steering away from the guitar driven songs in the past for more of a Depeche Mode sound with all of the synths and such.  His lyrics aren't as great as the prior albums IMO.

I don't know, maybe it'll grow on me, but it doens't compare to Absolution or Showbiz.

It's more like Origin of Symettry synthed-out.

Do a lot of the songs sound like 'Supermassive Black Hole'?  Cause that songs blows!  As far as I can tell, only people who don't like Muse like that song. Tongue

picked it up yesterday - sounds like quite a progression and a more mature album with less bombastic sounds.

still growing - I think Muse have the potential to be massive globally - always have - enormous talent/potential

Supermassive Black Hole is by far the best song on the album IMO.

So that might give you an idea what it's like. Undecided

It's great, though maybe not as good as Absolution.

Best songs for me are Knights of Cydonia, and Map of the Problematique after a few listens. It's definitely a grower too- most Muse albums reveal more and more with time.

Good album from a really, really good band.

"Starlight" might be the years best song.
