The organisers of Rock In Rio (Lisbon) have confirmed to us that Guns N'Roses will be headlining the event on 27th May 2006.

*IF* this is true, then I'm pretty sure this is *NOT* how management wanted this going down.  Then again, I don't think the leak timing was particularly grand for them either.  Chaos is most likely to ensue.

Don't get your hopes high. As I said in the other threads: Even if it's confirmed, that doesnt mean ANYthing. They could easily cancel before the shows. Like 2001. Fuck, they can even cancel WHILE on tour. Like 2002.

Its true, and yeah I dont think management wanted these festivals to announce first. Im pretty sure Axl wanted to hold some sort of press conference and announce everything then...

yeah, but it seams much more likely that this will go right, since the album is near, and all the GNR buzz lately

Well, we can't be sure, maybe they gave them the "ok" to announce it...

Besides, if they want, they can announce more things at a press conference or a press release.

Rock Im Park is the brother festival of Rock Am Ring. They can't have announce it for May 27, it's gotta be June 2-4.

Darknemus, this could only lead to good things. Something needed to light a fire under their ass. Just like when the U2 cd was stolen. It pushed up the release of the record. After all this time, I don't feel sorry for Axl or management. They made their stance as cold and insensitive to the fanbase. Now they got a mini French Revolution on their hands...except they hopefully won't lose their heads. It will be an option if a record isn't released before these shows. hihi

I'd wait until an official announcement on this. ?Remember, Merck reamed sp1at.com and said what they report is rubbish.

Sp1at.com probably saw these other festival dates confirmed and decided to THINK RIO was confirmed so it'd look like sp1at heard it first.
