"I don't worry about nothin', no..."

« on: May 12, 2007, 10:25:01 AM »

its now been exactly one year since the gunners re-appeared from the long silent period of '02-'05.

2006 was a great year for guns n' roses, and very exciting for the hardcore fans as well as the band themselves. the tour was successful, axl appeared to be enjoying himself, the band played together beautifully, and reviews were generally in favour of the new line-up.

also, alot of false hope was given to fans - 'fall, late fall', 'it is this year', 'x tuesdays left', 'march 6th 2007', which all proved fruitless. the lack of communication after axl's letter has frustrated alot of fans, and any updates we do get are either vague, off-topic or not definitive.

i'm confident alot of steps have been made during the past year in regard to the new album, and that it will see the light of day, hopefully this year, which will be a fitting return on the 20th anniversary of Appetite.

respect to jarmo. he's been in a difficult position over the last few weeks, but has managed to keep this board from becoming a hive of un-sourced rumours and wild speculation.

lets hope that this time next year, the whole world can see what we can see - a fantastic band with great material and huge potential.

Well, since recording wasn't finished in 2006....

I'd say closer than ever before.  Smiley

I'd have to go ahead and agree with this. Although I can't imagine why we were told 2006 at least twice and once in September if the recording wasn't done........

Oh my, so you already have lost your spirits for a release this year? I will do so, if they did not hand in the album before the tour...

Anyways, as Jarmo mentioned Recording is done; so we are closer than ever! Well we might be closer, but I wouldn`t say "soon" is the word: Band does not have a new manager yet (Paul Dainty confirmed that in the beginning of april) and if they don`t hand in the album before the tourstart I don`t see any chance that they will actually do anything while touring. Also we have been told that the tour will be longer than we know of so far, so it really gotta be finished before. So I guess we will know when the tour begins.

As far as mixing is concerned: I have no doubt that Axl is able the extend the mixing period to new dimensions as the recording process itself. We got an anouncement that mixing started 3 months ago. And then there would still be the mastering phase.

So is this album closer than ever? sure if you consider that it was never anounced before that the recording process was done...Does that mean we are close? Hell no!
After the tour they could easily decide that the fans reactions did not match their expectations so they go back to the studio....it seems a vicious circle!

However hope will die at last....

I don't know if we're any closer.  But I miss all the excitement we had this time last year.  I went to the show on the 15th, and it was just an awesome experience.  If the CD comes out great, if not oh well.   Besides the best way to experience GNR is live !

They said that? I don`t remember...but this is what most likely happened:

I think we were told that because of Merck. Him and his cryptic tuesdays crap w/ us.

But yeah,  I think we are close. Very close. Closer than 1 year ago, and closer than ever before.

You know, now that I think of it, you're probably right on that. Oh well, whatever we've been told before... here's to maybe being on the brink for real this time:    beer

What's most significant to me is that now almost everyone in the forums recognizes the band to be the real Guns N Roses of today.

Casual fans who saw the band last year also agree that the band kickass.

Peeps are getting there. The band is getting there.

It's closing in.

Well at that time it was un-official news. In 2007 we know from the bands website that the recording is done...

But I dont know if soon is the word and some news from the band before the tour would be great... ok

It's got to be closer..I'd hope. I really thought it was coming last year, for once in my life I actualy thought I would have it in my hands. They did say they are  mixing and I guess it was never that far all of last year, but in reality I don't expect it and not even a release date set would make me believe.. I have to see it in stores. Thats just where I'm at as far as believing anything GnR related.
