Title: How the hell can no one know!?
Post by: chriskon72 on October 24, 2006, 10:45:31 AM
Hey Guy's

You know I have been thinking so much about this album and the "Mystique" and secrecy surrounding it. What's going on is soooooo weird....we can't talk about a article in a mag, then there is the Harley deal.

How can the GNR camp keep all this stuff so quiet. We heard from Andy Wallace that it is mixed....but that is all we hear, we don't even really know if it was done now or if it was done back in march.

How do these guy's work ? like you don't even hear or see a story like :

"today we caught up with Robin Fink leaving Electricladyland studios  where it is beleived that GNR are mixing CD with Andy Wallace (i.e)"

You don't see/hear anything from the band members let alone a pic from Axl leaving a studio where they would be working or for example it was said they are rehearsing for this lego of the tour....where ? rehearsels for a show this size usually are done in a hanger or factory, what the hell. How can no one know or discover whats going on ?.

If CD is comming out it must have artwork we know nothing about it really.

Christ ! the thing has to be fabricated, printing, pressed, you don't just make 2-3 million cd's in a basement somwhere...I mean these things are done worldwide its huge! cds for the states presed in the U.S of course but if you think about it cds in Canada get pressed mainly near Toronto, the U.K will have their own for sure. What about central Europe, Asia, Japan, Austr?lia South America. For Christ?s sake no one spills the beans ANYWHERE ?!

What about v?deo....if there is one, it had to be filmed somewhere....right ? it needed a director. Where was it edited and by whom ?

How is it that I cannot not know where Lindsey Lohan had coffee yesterday. But the GNR camp can manage to keep this wrapped up so airtight.

Maybe Merck and co. can?t book a tour to save their lives but sure as hell keeps a good secret.  ;D

For those of you going to the show.... have a good one !

Yes this is something I have also been wondering about. How comes we dont have shots of band members leaving the studio etc? The album must be done and dusted, boxed up and ready to go. Somoene must see it. People who work in the big stores (HMV, Virgin etc) must see an unmarked box (or they will do when it is shipped) saying do not open till XX-NOV-06, I cant believe at least one person wont spill the beans casually. Same thing is happening with Smashing Pumpkins at the moment (slightly off subject but a valid point). They are recording a new album and there is confusion as to whom is in the band. I cant see how no-one has seen the band members turn up for rehearsal! How do bands keep it so quiet? I understand why things are hushed up on forums like this (the more popular ones) but the news must be floating around somewhere

Axl has a homestudio, right? The mixing could be done there I guess.. And I have a feeling that it's not yet in pressing because if it was we'd know about it..

Keeping rehearslas secret is easy, IMO. Just think 'bout it, they could be held anywhere and if everyone comes alone people would recognize only Axl.. The rest of the guys could come with a bus, FFS.

i was thinking about that myself...its really really weird! i have friends that work in universal (no in the states) and noone knows a thing about CD. No one seems to know anything...this just cant be true...or maybe this is the best secret in the music history!

1) On the paparazzi side....it's a good question. ?I have no idea how this kind of stuff is not making it "out there". ?I know Axl is a control freak when ?it comes to CD, but you would expect SOMETHING anecdotal to leak. ?But nothing. ?Odd, I grant you.

2) On the artwork...well, we do have some stuff. ?We have the picture that was originally up in Tokyo (the bike/wall/graffiti pic) and we have the recent rumors (there's a thread here, somewhere) about Craig Howell possibly doing artwork for CD. ?

3) On replication...you're right in that this is where a large number of leaks usually occur (here, and when giving review copies) but there are ways to limit them....higher security, double blind replication work, etc and there are things the label can do to "encourage" replication plants to make sure leaks are minimal. ?The fact that, if CD has hit replication, and we've not heard ANYTHING is, again, odd.

4) The video could be edited together from footage recorded during the Hammerstein shows and the Euro tour. ?Then it's only about editing it....and you'd only need one production house who, by nature of their profession, are pretty good at keeping mum about stuff.

I will agree, too, that it's interesting how good the "team" is at plugging leaks and keeping the whole thing quiet. ?They're better than some countries at keeping a lid on their "state secrets".

If someone were to tell someone that it is the pressing state that would "confirm" it is comming out, we would no longer need a official release.

How the hell can no one know?

Easy..It's called "Gag orders"...Axl loves to hand them out. (Vh1 Behind the music anyone)

Hell, the album might not be done yet, I DON'T KNOW!!!

I gave up on all this craziness a while ago. ?When I try to make sense of all of it, I start to get a headache.

I just want the pain to stop.....

What you've wrote is so true.

It's like doing the greatest bank robbery ever or something without even being noticed.

(I'm just saying bank robbery because it's cool, not trying to say that the band stole something or anything like that :peace:)

Title: Re: How the hell can no one know!?

It is all pretty fucked up but if we knew everything, what would be the fun in waiting for JUST an announcement on something. We don't know a release date, we don't know the first single yet, we haven't seen cover art, we don't know the tracklisting, we don't even know who will appear on the album besides the obvious people and we don't even know if this album will be as great as we ALL THINK it is going to be... alright, the album will kick fucking ass, that's obvious from what we've heard so far.  It does suck NEVER knowing when an announcement will come or even IF ONE is coming, it fucking sucks. But it's just another day in the life of a GN'R fan. We are all still here, aren't we??

We may be here but our sanity isn't....and besides, sadly, we have little to show for.

I sure hope this saga ends well....I hope we haven't been waiting for nothing.

I've heard that...and I've heard otherwise.

And never seen proof in either direction.

Can you point me toward something concrete in either direction?

Thanks!

damn right we are, lennonisgod! - and if it takes longer than the next 10 tuesdays - you can bet we'll all still be here!

It is a pure Hitchcock if ever there was a mystery. ?I think its great that there is so much mystique about it all. ?Sure, If I hadnt just had the summer from heaven with 5 GnR gigs amidst a highly succesful and amazing tour - I might be a little more "weathered" about it all.

I am constantly overexcited, waiting for news, checking album releases on websites, asking record stores - the suspense is massive. ?it certainly is a very different way of doing things in this day and age of My space-heres-the-music-before-we've-even-written-it ?! credit to them for going a different tack.

oh god I wish i was in florida.

The omni-present threat of litigation has a way of shutting people "in the know" up. Additionally, while the national media will be interested when this thing hits the shelves- I don't think they feel it's necessary to expend the resources to camp outside studios or apply plant informants, etc. Maybe if it were the old band putting out an album after all this time...

If they try to pull this off as a complete and total surprise- I do think something will leak out within 24 hours - 48 hourse beforehand... as the product moves into the hands of people not formally subject to gag orders or unconcerned by them.

At least that....mostly because once the album is released into the retail chain of distribution all bets are off...

Probrally rehersed somewhere in S Florida. Lots of out there places west of greater Miami ( Everglades)

If Axl had the mixing done in his home studio, no one would know.

Also agree on the video- we know the European tour was professionally shot. Lots of footage there.

maybe we shoudl consider what Robin has posted on his site :

"to be clear, the request to refrain from emailing me about Guns n' Roses is not a diss to you or to the band or to anyone. i simply am not eager to instigate that conversation until an official release date for the album is made public. otherwise, i'd go a little nutzo tossing "i dunnos" and "can't quite says" in every direction. i trust you may understand. there will most certainly be a time to embrace this new ship. let's first allow it to launch from the pad in all it's glory. i look forward to such a time."

I think whatever's going on, it'll all be revealed at the right time, even if some fans think the right time was many years ago, the people in and around the band may think otherwise.

Hmm interesting, thanks for posting that markreed as I hadnt seen that before. Im glad he has come out and said that, it shows they understand our plight and eagerness and are not taking our interest for granted, which i often suspected Axl of doing.(don't hit me)

I think Axls burning CD himself, the artwork is being done on a photocopier at Geffen and Merek is doing the quality control.

Thanks to, Jarmo for keeping this quiet, Beta for buying the blank CD's, Bucket Head for all the fried chicken, Slash and Duff for finding a reason or two to get out of the house, The McClaren F1 team for making my pc run quicker, and the fans who I love. Brain, Dickie, Ronnie, Robby, Gilbs, Issy.Dizney and Chris the miner for putting up with the shit, that is namely " Where's Slash?, Who are they? Whats this song called? Bollocks my watch stopped" and the rest, well......

I don't think I have it on my work PC...but it's been widely circulated around the net since 2002. It's a black and white photo of a wall with "Guns n Roses" spraypainted on it and a bike (or bikes...can't remember) in front of the wall.  I'll bet someone, here, has a link to it or has it loaded on photobucket...

ok...I agree with that, they dont have a particular order to play the songs, but they have a clue of what they are going to play, I have the Rock in Rio setlist that Axl had in the stage at his feet. By now, im sure the band knows what songs they might play, if anything new, etc...But that information is always off limits to the gnr fans

Yeah, I'm sure they know that they are going to open with WTTJ, ISE, and Nightrain, after that I think anything is possible.

Rock in Rio is a different environment.  It's not Guns N' Roses' concert, they probably had a set amount of time they could play then have to leave.  but that's just a guess...

Actually I hear the reason he was selling off those cars awhile back was so he could get a replication plant in his garage (though it spills over to the tennis courts a bit).

Yup, a yellow one...but it's being actually manufactured/replicated in Axl's garage plant.

that's fan made.....and rather badly made in my opinion. There are no photos of the real cover available on the net.

Why there's no pics from that show still amazes me.

I guess I know why. That show was in china. and Tokyo is not in china. not even chiba or osaka. :hihi:

The people who actually know something, probably don't feel the need to get attention by posting about what they know.

The glass doesnt have to be half empty though. Maybe its not so much about the need to get attention as it is about sharing with friends. There are a lot of us who would like to know what these "people" know. What makes these people think they are so special? Wow they know something the rest of us don't. They are soo cool. I hate selfish people like that. Don't you Jarmo?

No, I don't like selfish people.

But it's not about being selfish.

If you work in the industry and you see/hear something, you might wanna think if it's a good idea to tell everybody what you know. It might make future customers/partners think about whether or not they should hire/work with you.

So I understand what loyalty and keeping your mouth shut means.

Many people don't seem to understand the concept of private conversations. They happily post what they heard and what they were told on message boards....

How is it that I cannot not know where Lindsey Lohan had coffee yesterday. But the GNR camp can manage to keep this wrapped up so airtight.

hahah funny and so true  :hihi:

Even if someone were to spill some info, we as GN'R fans are so paranoid with spicifics, we'd want to know who said it , where did the info come from and if it's someone like myself that don't post very often but been coming here since 1997 were to post some info, most of you would call me a "bullshitter" and so on. We have been played with so many times and been waiting for so long that even the truth would be hard to believe, if it didn't come from GN'R or it's management. I will agree that all this silence is driving me fucking nuts!

My original post was not meant to be looked at in a negative way.

? In reality I am very very suprised how the GNR camp contiue to be able to keep almost all info. secret. As I said with lindsay Lohan....or if Angelina Jolie or Paris Hilton farts the whole world knows within minutes.

When Axl bit the Sec. Guard we knew before Axl got to bed for christ's sake. (I'm not saying what did or din't happen, the fact is we had a crap load of info)

Can you imagine how many people work in all the cd factories for example that I mentioned ?

?It is mind boggling to me that no one somehow knows something and goes out and get's drunk and said to a freind "oh by the way, CD goes into production on this day but don't tell anyone" how can you shut so many people ?

if you say gag order yeah ok in the U.S that could work but I'm in Brazil and here nothing works "legally"

Then again I don't know how long does it take to create a cd start to finnish, something should be happening if it will be by X-mas

I find it incredible. The silence...

Oh, I totally understand. Especially regarding loyalty. If one is asked to remain silent, it would be wrong to release info. But, look at some of the biggest sites around...like IGN. It happens often that a main editor says insider's are reporting this, or sources close to the project say... I am sure if they were asked not to say anything, they wouldn't. But if not then what would be the concern?

Maybe there's less people who actually know something in the GN'R world?

Now, I'm gonna get shot down for this but someone has to say it (i dont THINK anyone else has). What IF the CD of, er...CD is'nt going to be pressed to begin with, but after a certain numbver of copies have been sold as downloads? Or maybe itll be entirely sold in downloadable form...?

I dont believe it but thought it may just be worth throwing out there.

I'll leave u with a pre-emptive CALM DOWN! DONT YELL at me already!

That's an interesting idea. But people like me and you(?) like to buy the cd at a store? Actually having the feeling of a cd in my hands? The booklet? etc. I wouldn't think they'll go with such a bold idea as you mentioned.  :)

I agree its unlikely and i wouldnt want that either, but it would explain a lot. and maybe they want to save on the cost of paper for the liner notes by letting people download them too LOL!

Maybe Axl bit the security guard because the security guard was going to post some critical info about CD to an Internet message board...

 :hihi:

If CD is going to be released this year (which I believe it is), it has to be finished or almost finished (i.e., at the printing and packaging stage) by now.  I don't really care to know why we don't know anything.  I just want CD in my hands.
