I met Ron at WV on the 3rd, He was on his way to the show, he took time to talk a few seconds and a picture, he's a hell of a guy, the guy with him was rushing him, but he still took time, very rare.

If Slash didnt exsist i still think there would be a GNR..it was axl's and izzy's vision although the guitar playing would be a lot different. if there was no Axl we would would not be here at all however.

That's pretty much how I look at the situation too. Axl = most important member.

Slash is my favorite guitarist... Hes the reason i became what id like to call a really good guitar player. But the truth is Axl and Izzy were the song writters. Slash put his own ideas in to spice them up. But honestly without Axl and Izzy more so Axl...GNR would not exsist.

What if Slash didn't exist?

This site wouldnt exist either. Its a shame Guns 'fans' on here seem to hate the guy so much. Its pathetic really.

My question was sarcastic. I don't hate Slash. I love his playing. I might not agree with some of the things he did, but hate is a strong word and I'd never use it for a GN'R member or ex-member...

I meant that there are no ifs and there shouldn't be any...

Slash exists and GN'R became one of the biggest bands in the world.

Bumblefoot exists and GN'R are touring the US right now.

Sorry, I just don't see a good reason behind this thread... Anyway, I'll let it be...

What, you don't consider "thinking out loud" to be good enough reason?   Grin  Quite honestly, I don't see much reason behind many of the threads that show up around here...

If Ron didn't exist... I suppose Axl would have moved heaven and earth to try and get Buckethead back into the band... sounds like that was the plan up until days before Hammerstein...

Anyway, we should be glad Ron's around. Guy can play ANYTHING, and is a nice dude that doesn't have problems sharing the stage with Finck and Fortus. ok

Well if he didn't exist I'd take anyone over the prog-rock guys mentioned so far

I guess I'd still be listening to Trey Spruance though

Unfortunately it's not even about Ron, it's about if Ron didn't exist, who else would be in the band...  Grin

So, it's about the someone else who would be in the band...

It's too bad Bucket was too much of a mental case to come back. His playing was fucking tight with this band. Cry

Ron is a good choice, and if he didn't exist I think the future of GNR wouldn't be as bright. I like Jon 5, I just don't know if he would have been a good fit, it would have been interesting... I guess we'll never know.
