... if cd is really gonna be released this year a video for the first single must have been shot already. no rumours about that floating around the internet? could it be that gnr will be having a single without a video (like with "ain't it fun"); what do you guys know / think?

I think the first video will be a live one, and will also help promote the remaining leg of the tour/future dvd release.

It'll probably be a studio track with live footage like Live And Let Die kind of...

the first single should not be brought to the masses by the means of a "live and let die" kind of video... it should be something more innovative.

Atleast it is pretty  safe to assume that it is impossible for a band like GNR to start filming a music video of "typical" scale and somehow manage to keep it secret.Hundreds of people involved, thousands of memos passed around, all that jazz.
I personally find it hard to believe that even something very limited..like some live footage-thing could be done in secret. Well maybe it could. But who the hell would do that, or want to see that, really? As a music video for the  first single,  that is.

If you've ever seen the Foo Fighters video for "Best of You", I think something similar could be really easy to film quietly.

A performance in a smallish room somewhere, cut in with footage from nature, wars, news etc.

Keep the production crew down really low and have them sign release forms to prevent them blabbing.(This would work best if the time between shooting and TV premiere was really short such as a week).

Personally i'd love to see another video like estranged, patience, don't cry, november rain and since i dont have you. I reckon that style of video is just extrememly entertaining. ?ok
The live video ones are alright, but it doesnt seem to express the song as much as an acted video..
i dunno...lol

Why does this album need a single , it has 13 years of advertising behind it. Everybody asumnes it needs a single.

Or cover art for that matter?

An occasional Hit Parader/Rolling Stone  journalist mentioning "Yepppp, still no CD" as a part of his column 3 times a year doesn't count as advertising or PR.

Why not to release a single?

Singles are defining songs. With out singles, there would be no definition of the album. That means no interest to hear the rest of the music by possible new fans.

I don't think we will see a single , except for a HD ad or something. Factoring in radio airtime avilability , marketing , this is really weird I have never seen A ARTISTS take this route , when it comes to buying a album.

I seem to remember some website that told you information on when/where bands were booked to be recording videos etc.
Maybe I dreamt it, but I swear GnR were on there not long again. No idea what the address was unfortunately.

Well now they have the Euro and US tour footage, so the best bits from all I would have guessed. Maybe shots of 2 different shows, with one show in black & white, like the Paradise City video?

GNR didn't make that video. If this was a HD fan board I'm sure we'd known.

I highly doubt that.

That would just show half-assed-ness.

They need to kick it off with a concept video.
