The only band I know of that tries to perform live what they do in the studio is Pink Floyd.? Most bands perform things differently than the studio version, simply because it's impossible to match the studio version exactly.? Case in point, if Axl is singing backup as well as lead vocals on a studio track, that's simply impossible live, so other band members take over.

Many, if not most bands have a lead vocalist that also sings backup vocals on studio cuts.? It's very common.? It's not some crazy "Axl thing."? ?Wink

Stinson, Finck and Pitman all do a great job on backing vocals, I even prefer their voices than Axls on Madagascar, that final part with 2 voices, you know...

The Eagles? their live stuff is almost a replication of their studio stuff

Really?  I am not a huge Eagles fan so I had no idea, but they are not the type of band I would expect to do that sort of thing.  That's cool though.

I won't be able to listen to the whole album through if Axl is the only one on vocals-too much high pitched screeching wears on me after a while. His background stuff on the Madagascar leak is terrible compared to the live versions. Other voices lend texture and soul to the songs. peace

yea pretty much everyone in the band except Frank and Brain do some bit of backup vocals.  Richard doesn't do a whole lot, but the rest do pretty regularly.   BBF and Robin have kickass voices especailly.

Throw in Tommy in there, and you have a fantastic backup vox section.  No need for Tracy and Roberta.  Wink

Robin Finck should've been lead singer in 2002. Just listen to him on Nightrain in Rio.
