While I'm always up for reading a GNR lovefest article, it'd be nice if his facts regarding Chinese Democracy were at least straight, no?

As much as i like AFD, and also anything Axl has ever sung on, it's hard for me to imagine how one could find any other album better than the UYIs, especially UYI 2, but hey, thats just me ?:hihi:

The problem is, each cd has my favorite song on it.  Nightrain, One in a million, November Rain, and Estranged.  every time i hear any of those, i laugh and say, "this is my favorite song".

That happens to me too! but overall, UIY 2 has 3 of the the songs i like the most, which are Estranged, Breakdown (weird, I know) and Locomotive, while UIY 1 only has 2! (November and Coma)

Had to pick one of 'em!? :)

Yeah I love "Breakdown" too.  Probably my second favorite after "Rocket Queen".

I'm likin all the Chinese Democracy mentions.  As much as I love them  I'M SICK of reading about the old albums.  Use Your Illusion II is def. the best of the bunch.  Truthfully I've listened to the leaks more then the old material these last few years anyway.....

I love UYI's, but AFD is clearly their best album.

AFD...think about the longevity of this album.  They'll still be playing this album for decades.  The entire tracklist is wonderful.  The album came out at the right time and it's what the music world needed at that time.  That's why AFD will remain their best work.  Jungle, PC, and not to mention SCOM are 3 of the classics from the 80's!  Think of how many times you hear those songs at sporting events, on commercials, etc...

Good point about the timing.  You could argue that UYI's came out at an inopportune time, when grunge and alternative music was beginning to blossom.  Not that it hurt with their popularity but the end was near, or at least a LONG hiatus.

true, but when UYI came out they pretty much ruled the music biz.  This is when they sounded like a well oiled machine live and the tour went from one end of the world to the other.  The anticipation of the UYI releases was awesome, but this time it's more frustrating that ever.  Don't know about you, but I'm sick of the wait.

Don't know about you, but I'm sick of the wait----I hear that, it has become ugly silent----screw the world tour.

Yeah, kinda depressing, isnt it? I love music and i'm even an amateur musician myself,? but apart from CD i don't have any perspective of any band releasing anything as good any of the previous GNR albums
its been forever since i bought an album and liked the whole thing. From what's been head so far, CD might change that? ;D

GNR is the only band that i like every single song released

Maybe it is just that I have sentimental ties to that period in my life, but Lies is the disc that gets the most play at my place ... By far.

Shouldn't this thread be in the Ex-Gunners or Dead Horse section since the current lineup hasn't released an album?

^Damn! I thought I was an asshole.

I didn't say it to be an asshole.   ::)

It's a true statement. One that seems to follow along with the rules of this board.

"What's the best gunner album" would be more appropriate in the "new" section if the current lineup had some music out there.

It's not sarcasm...

Just an observation. My observation. Not one that everyone else has to agree with.

Use Your Illusion is one album split in two, just like the Kill Bill volumes are really one movie. I'm so fucking sick of people either grading both albums against each other or ranking them independently. You know what my favorite album is? Use Your Illusion I & II.

From the  site linked in OP:

"The second Use Your Illusion album pips the first by being louder, ruder and raunchier. Tracks like Locomotive and Terminator II's You Could Be Mine rivaled anything on Appetite For Destruction"

What the hell. Who writes this stuff?
One of the few bad things about internet is that it has basically destroyed the overall quality of journalism. Throw a rock and you have 25% change to hit some average asshole who doesn't know his shit and yet writes book/album/movie/game/whatever reviews in some random no-reason-for-us-sto-exist www.Bill'scd&sound&randommedia.com site.

There's nothing wrong with breakdown or Coma, but Back off Bitch is one of my favorites.  Oh shit, i get excited just thinking about it.
