Does anyone think we'll still hear these songs?  Ron stated in an interview that he recorded on "a good handful" of tracks that did not end up on Chinese Democracy.  Does anyone think that during the down time DJ has done some recording and put his mark on any of the songs listed below, or possibly others?

I know there's no reason to believe that a new album is around the corner, but I do hope we'll still hear these songs some day, especially when you consider that Axl said he views Chinese Democracy as a double album, meaning we've only heard half of the equation!

Axl confirmed all of the below songs but 'Beta's Barn', which Chris Pitman stated is his favorite unreleased track.

Atlas Shrugged
Thyme
Seven
Soul Monster (Leave Me Alone)
The General
Silkworms
Beta's Barn
Quick Song
Down By The Ocean
Berlin (Oklahoma)
Zodiac
Ides Of March
Oh My God (newer version)
Jackie Chan (Checkmate)

Dang I had a thread either here or another board listing all the song titles that were confirmed (most of them in the Axl chats)... and I sure hope we'll see them!

Also, the full title of Soul Monster is the coolest sounding thing ever. Elvis Presley and the Monster of Soul. Sounds like a sequel to Bubba Ho-Tep Wink

Anyhow I could do without Silkworms and Oh My God since we've heard them already but I'm more than ready for the rest.

You know what I always thought would be cool?  If Axl rereleased Chinese D as a double album, with the other album cover(s), new art, & corrected lyrics and new album all in one.   I think that would be an amazing sendoff to the Chinese Democracy Era.

That said, I would take new GNR music any way I can get it.  Wink

Man I would love to even believe that one day we will hear the other half of the Chinese Democracy sessions.

Chinese is, for me, the finest album I have ever heard and it's amazing to think there's 12 or so more tracks just sitting there waiting to be drooled over! lol

At this point I'm just hoping for at least one new song at Rio  beer

Anything else would be the stuff of dreams

My thoughts exactly.  And what's cool is that this time around, other than maybe Silkworms, we have no idea what these songs are going to sound like.

When CD came, although it was amazing, we heard many of the songs live since 2001, not to mention the leaks that followed.  Axl's done a good job of keeping the followup album underwraps.   And yes, the thought of 12-14 brand-spankin-new GNR tracks is a lot to take in.   drool

Have these titled been confirmed?

I think I heard of Atlas Shrugged being mentioned in an interview a decade or so ago.

Yes, Axl confirmed all of those titles during his chats.   ok

Edit: Though he did say the titles are subject to change without warning, ala The Blues/Street of Dreams.   Also, there's allegedly A LOT more songs than what he confirmed here.  We really have no idea what's going to go on the next album when/if it comes out.

To answer your first question, it would be nice.

When was the last time Axl mentioned releasing these songs?

To answer your first question, it would be nice.

When was the last time Axl mentioned releasing these songs?

During his chats in December of 2008, right after CD came out, he talked about some of the songs, like how they were trying to get the mix right on Atlas, Silkworms doesn't have the same chorus & has a lot of guitars, Soul Monster was the band's most "Black Sabbath" moment, and teased that we may have heard parts of The General somewhere. (Later it was confirmed that they play part of The General as the intro music when they play live.)

Axl told a fan that he was considering releasing it "Same bat time, same bat channel next year.(2009)" But obviously that didn't work out.

He was asked about it again during Del's interview a few months later, but seemed to not want to talk about it and didn't say much, stating that he doesn't know & doesn't care when the next album's coming, as he wanted to concetrate on Chinese for a good bit.   That was the last time it was brought up.

It's been only rumors since then.  Undecided

Don't know if we can count this one too:

"Daddy Can the Devil do Mommy and Me?"

Described by Axl on the 2008 chats as an experimental piece inspired by "End of Days" scenes.
On another part of the interview he mentioned an instrumental solo effort written for that movie.
But it's not clear if this instrumental and that experimental pieces are the same.

I looked and it doesn't say anything either way.  Might be a rerelease of the Illusion CDs, which would be cool in it's own right, or it just might be the start of something...bigger.  ok

Edit: Just checked BB website again, and it shows multiple GNR releases slated for 11/15/11 under different SKU numbers.  Could be re-releases of the back-catalogue...Or it might be similar to the multiple album covers for CD, which each got seperate SKU #s, before the release got botched.  We should find out soon.

I'm seeing a price of $37.99.  That certainly wouldn't be a CD.  I think it was Spirt who said he googled the SKU yesterday and it showed up as a UYI Japan import, which I guess could explain the high price.  I googled it too, and found the same thing.

Maybe they're just trying to throw us off though.  hihi

I saw that too, but it lists several different GNR releases with different numbers on that day, not just the UYI2 one that was found.  Bands often re-release some of their back catalogue coinciding with a new release to create buzz & hype.  Would be really cool if that's what's going on here.

If GNR put out some new material and tour the states in the same period of time, it might be more than a lot fans can handle.   drool

Is a new GNR album coming out this fall so far fetched?  If you consider that Axl initially wanted to release the followup album (which has already been recorded) a year apart from CD, is it coming out three years later that unrealistic?

It's also quite expensive for a back-catalogue re-release as well.  I've always said it would be cool if they rereleased Chinese Democracy as a double album along with the alternate booklet, but even then that's still a pretty big price tag.

Maybe Mysteron or someone in the know can clue us in...

Hmm.  I certainly hope these aren't simply Japanese imports.  I know GNR's back catalogue being remastered & rereleased has long been on the wishlist of GNR fans.  That would be very cool indeed.

Why would best buy import the old albums from japan when you can buy them in the us? Is there anything different with the japanese ones?

I hope they can get some new tracks out there soonish I'm hungry for more material!

It would be odd if BB did that, which is why it looks like these are something else.  Not necessarily a new album, but that price seems to indicate that this is something different.  We'll see...

The cd's in question are so called SHM, here's the wikipedia explanation of the abbreviation:

Super High Material (SHM-CD); a Compact Disc manufacturing process for some pre-recorded compact discs since 2006 in Japan only that is claimed to have improved sound.

The cd's in question are so called SHM, here's the wikipedia explanation of the abbreviation:

Super High Material (SHM-CD); a Compact Disc manufacturing process for some pre-recorded compact discs since 2006 in Japan only that is claimed to have improved sound.

Hmm, so I guess that's it then & explains the price.  Not very exciting and not sure why it's on the BB website.  Now that I think of it, I think something similar (SHM-CD) popped up on amazon.com a couple years before CD's release, causing fans to speculate about an upcoming release. I guess this is just an overly-expensive batch of import CDs.
