We should go on tour around the UK with Chris. Like a "meet the look-a-like" thing.

Coming soon to a shopping center, bowling alley or pub near you!  hihi

Hey, stop ruining my thread!  rant

no one seems to have actually heard them

You all, go listen to Libetines songs from their site http://www.thelibertines.org.uk/ --> jukebox. The best are What A waster, Up The Bracket and Time For Heroes.

Edit: And BTW Chris is too short to be a Pete look-a-like..  Tongue

I finally got today Babyshambles debut album Down In Albion!

It?s nothing to compare to Libs debut Up The Bracket, but it is much better than i expected (and i?m sure it will still grow on me). Down In Albion?s not as "agressive" as Libertines albums (esp. Up The Bracket), kinda "shallalaa"- and sing-a-long type thing and very, very weird in a whole, i?d say. Lyrics are still excellent! And i really like Petes voice, sadly he mumbles way too much in this one..

Pete Doherty... I can't stand that guy, he have some serious problems that he need to take care of.

But the music is good.

Pete Doherty had a new years eve show at his home. Pretty amazing, i think.

30 dec i read from Babyshambles.com that Pete will organize a new years eve show. People were asked to come to 44 Victoria Crescent, Londopn N15. at 4.00 pm.

I was very sceptic about it. Was it even he posting,  and if was, will he ever show up, ect.

Today i read from babyshambles.net that he actually had a show and even a great one!

So, people told that they met at The Generals house. They payed him 10 ? and he gave them a page ripped out of a book as a ticket. Then after a while they went on busses and went over to Petes house. They had to took their shoes off before they went to upstairs in to his livingroom, where Pete started to play his guitar and dancing around. There were about 60 people. He played Libs, Babyshambles and Beatles. People tsaid that he was very good and he was talking to croud in between the songs and was very friendly.
Then Pete went to his bedroom, where people went in individually or in small groups. He talked with them and played what they asked. Meanwhile he asked others to write on his walls. They also played his instruments and looked around the house.
The party was over (before midnight) because someone has stolen something and someone did shit in the bath..

I?m pretty amazed, even the tickets were a bit high prized.
Wish i could had seen that..

i have played a a couple of dates supporting both the libertines and pete doherty.
the libertines were ok,not really my cup of tea but ok.babyshambles however are another story, they have no credibility.

pete doherty is a mockney private school bastard who thinks he is rock n roll, where is infact he is a confused shitty poet at best.

and about the drugs cant we see its all a publicity stunt, yeah im sure he gets high with his mates but he aint as far gone as he makes out.he is a better actor than what he is singer or anything else to do with music.

he will have gone in a year or too.

Maybe.

But the fact is that The Libs were signed to Rough Trade five years ago. Their first album came out almost four years ago and it was a success. All that was well before he made succes with his drugs habit and supermodel girlfriend.
Media was interested of him after his first arrest, which was way before media reported of his druggy ways.

the media werent interesyed in him back then though.they were into the libertines and that was mainly due to carl.after that stunt with the robbery of the house it all went down hill from there and thats because pete wanted to be bigger than the band so took that "tragic rock n roll frontman"route and destroyed the only credible thing he will ever be a part of and that is the libertines.

And that?s how it should be, I?m not denying it.

and that was mainly due to carl.

Carl is great. But I think it was mainly because Carl and Pete made an excellent team together (songwriting, singing and playing).

So having heard nothing but positive things about this band, and reading this thread, I downloaded all the tracks you suggested and love them all especially "Cant Stand Me Now" and "Likely Lads". Having said that, can you recommend any standout tracks on the Babyshambles album that Id probably enjoy since it appears Pete is no longer with the Libertines, Id really like to check out this new project. His voice is fresh, full of energy I think..and only after a few songs this band is growing on me, many thanks ok

Yea Killamangiro rocks, and also no one has mentioned Don't Look Back Into The Sun by The Lbertines, probably their best. I know what you mean, don't usually like this kind of music either but The libertines are fuckin great.

Thanks for those suggestions, they rock too ok

So what is the story between the Libs and Babyshambles? Pete used to be the singer of the Libs but got kicked out quit? and now Babyshambles is his new band? Have the Libs replaced him yet, new dude better/worse? Also, any GnR type animosity between Pete and the Libs now? Grin
