AWESOME NEW BAND...their single "ain't coming home" is on rock radio now...it is #19 on the billboard mainstream rock charts and it is rising.? They have opened for Aerosmith and VR.? Their first album comes out September 28th.  Go to their website to hear their new single and a few other songs:? ?

If you like a classic hard rock sound (Aerosmith, GnR, AC/DC), then you should think this band kicks ass....if you don't like this band, you are insane

Silvertide is an awesome new band who you may have already heard on the radio. They are a young band, but they play old school rock, much like GnR...Their guitarist is the best thing to happen to rock since slash...and the rest of them aren't too shabby either....their new cd comes out tuesday....you can hear the whole album here:

GNR For Fucking Ever

« Reply #44 on: September 29, 2004, 12:53:04 AM »

A new band called Silvertide released their debut album today.  A little history on the band:  they are all between 19 and 23, 6 weeks after forming together as Silvertide they opend for Aerosmith,  opend for Van Halen (where I saw them), also opend for velvet revolver.  70's rock and roll band mix of GNR,  Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Black Crowes, Van Halen, etc.  Guitarist sounds like jimmy page, slash, & joe perry.  Singer sounds like Robert Plant/Chris Robinson.  Current single is "Ain't Comming Home".  Whole cd is good about 8 rockers and 3 slower/acoustic tracks.  3rd track on the cd is SFC (so fucking crazy) not a cover of so crazy by GNR but definately influenced by.  "Foxhole J.C."  is soulful rocker which slows down half way threw and turns in to a epic "civil war" type song.  All the songs are great but other standouts are:  Blue Jeans, Maryjane, California Rain, and Devils Daughter.

GNR for fucking ever.

Such a great CD.

I love the song, Blue Jeans, but my girl took offense too it, owe well.

Also, the GNR song is "You're Crazy", Not "So crazy".

I picked up Silvertide's Show and Tell.? This album is abolutely incredible.? I've had their 3-song EP for some time now and had grown tired of it.? American Excess had only 3 tracks (Mary Jane, To See Where I Hide, & Beware).? I was disappointed prior to buying the cd that the first two songs had made it to their full-length cd.

To my surprise, those 2 songs are the weakest on the album.? This album rocks hard and quite possibly may end up in my Top 5 rock records of all time.? Mary Jane was the best song on the EP and made it to the album without any changes.? To See Where I Hide on the other hand is much improved.? Experiencing the changes from the original to the newer version helps me see what can happen when songs are changed slightly as we've all heard Axl has done with some tracks on the upcoming GNR record.

“Show & Tell” is one of the most powerful, rock-driven CDs you will ever hear.? It's sounds as if Lynard Skynard went to a party got drunk and was taken advantage of by Guns 'N Roses conceiving a hard rockin little monster the proud parents named Silvertide.

The only song that doesn't seem to be belong on this album is Heartstrong.? Yet I think that this song is going to put this band on the map.? It will sell many many records yet it does not show the bands hard rock sound.? It's radio friendly.? I'm not much into radio friendly rock but at this point anything that gives attention to GNR style rock.....I'm all for it.

k-rock - i agree 100%.

i had been waiting for this album for almost 3 years, and my expectations were high. and they totally deliver on this album.

this is one of the best albums i've heard in a long time.

Don't patronise me.

Play.com is an amazon equivelent, just with better choices in films - I also buy my CDs from there.  I've never downloaded an album in my life.

Truly stunning album - they are the best band of the last 5 years, AC/DC meets Aerosmith and just as good, 10/10, makes the darkness look very second rate.

I havent heard any of the songs yet.  But please tell me one thing.  Does the singer have a cool voice?  I'm assuming the guitar work is great since everyone here loves the band.  I just couldnt get into Justin Hawkins' voice at all.  no

The singers voice - lol on occasions he sounds like the bloke from that boy band Hanson

He does a good job can't really fault him, and the lyrics are above average - though not Estranged-esque in their brilliance

The guitarist is good, though i wouldn't say spectacular - the solo's are somewhat inhibited as if their almost - almost, embarrassed to have them their and are trying to hide them so no one will noticed - no extensive guitar intro's or outro's

But they are very catchy and have that attitude that The Darkness lack - i really like the Darkness but their music is very superficial, not that this isn't either but it does a better job of convincing u otherwise

It's an excellent and highly promising debut and i am delighted i finally have it - think ac/dc meets aerosmith and u have their sound - of course it's fair to say they ain't exactly bringing anything new, their doing what others did over 25 years ago - but they are the most promising thing out there.

i agree about the guitar solos....

i've seen them live several times and i don't know why they don't showcase the lead guitarist more on this album. most people agree that he is the strongest piece of the band.

at their live shows, the lead stands out big time. he sounds so much like slash. and he tears through solos agressively, even does some behind his head and shit. he's a total showman.

i used to think that the singer (lafty) and lead guitarist (perry) would someday be mentioned in the same breath as mick/keith, page/plant, and axl/slash.

so if there's anything negative i can say about this album, it's that it's a little too safe. it sounds a little too much like that band jet, instead of something like AFD.

but despite my extremely high expectations for this album, it still comes close to meeting them. and i give it a 9 out of 10.
