Waiting for Promised Land....

« on: August 30, 2010, 02:22:59 PM »

Hi all,

Here is my quick review as I'm about to board a flight.  I apologize if this is in the wrong section.

I don't remember the entire setlist, but it included:

-Mean Bone
-Beggars & Hangers On
-Fall To Pieces
-Dirty Lil' Thing
-Sucker Train Blues
-Slither
-Ghost
-By The Sword
-Back to Cali
-Starlight
-Civil War
-Nightrain
-Sweet Child O' Mine
-Paradise City
-Rocket Queen
-Godfather Theme

Slash's playing seems to have improved immeasurably since he got sober.  He played fantastic last night.  His tone was beautiful.  The highlight for me was hearing his tone on the old GN'R songs.  I think Myles Kennedy is a great technical singer with amazing range, but he is not very energetic on stage and I think though he sang "Rocket Queen" and Nightrain" and the other GN'R songs with great technical precision, he lacked the anger and the edge to his vocals that I'm accustomed to hearing on those songs.

I'd like to add that Todd Kerns is a strong bassist, and Brent Fitz did a great job on the drums, particularly on "Rocket Queen" and "Nightrain".

Sounds like a killer set list.  They are a very tight band!

I saw the band playing live twice and I agree : Todd Kerns have an excellent "attitude" on stage... very communicative with the crowd.

His backing harmony vocals are awesome, and were missed during the Sydney shows, where they had the other gut Tony Montana filling in
