Opening for Metallica would be cool.

just give it up already.

Was an honest opinion.  Big crowds are needed for a stadium tour.

see the thread title. GNR is the headliner. period.

ok, if that is the case though, i imagine there would be a LOT of pressure on them to perform the old catalog which is something most of the fan's of the NU band don't want.  A lot of people that go to large show's aren't always diehard fan's and just want the single's or there not happy.

whatever. They'll do what they think right for the crowd.

It's not as if you were more knowledgeable than azoff about this area.

Actually, i know its stupid, but when i saw GNR live in 06 in Dublin, there was small section's of the crowd chanting for Slash. (some even dressed as him).

Also, when i saw VR live in Dublin, there was a small section chanting "Guns n Roses" and were only happy when they played Its so easy and brownstone.

i know this is ridiculous and slightly off topic but it shows the mentality of some fans that go to these things.

but i agree with you man, they will do a show that fits the crowd.

Backyard Babies (they sound really cool, they're friends of the band n' worked with Dizzy, so it's possible) n' Sebastian Bach (kick ass adrenalitic show, mate from the old days n' his duet with Axl in My Michelle was one of the highlights from 06-07,  n' he can also sing on Sorry  drool....)

The reunited Faith No More n' Chris Cornell would be awesome, but I don't see those major acts openin' now ...

Major? I don't think he wouldn't play the bigger venues like GN'R....

His latest album was streaming on his Myspace and I don't think a lot of GN'R fans would be interested in hearing him do that kind of stuff....

So if he was playing his "usual" solo stuff, he could actually work as an opening act for GN'R.

You're right, he wouldn't play bigger venues than Gn'R (at least not as a headline) but I though maybe he prefers headline in smaller venues... I don't know, just speculation...

Old/new whatever..  Smiley It's still GNR. The band has a great history and I hope it has a great future as well.  ok

So you dont think that GnRs "core audience" is open-minded enough to embrace somebody trying something a little different, experimenting with a new type of sound?
You put down Metallica fans by calling them to close-minded to embrace new Guns N Roses, and now you are doing the same thing.

Ok, fair observation.

But, knowing how well Mix Master Mike was received in 2002, and several of those younger metal bands in 2006, I'm a bit more careful about making statements about how open minded the concert audiences are.

With that in mind, I don't know if a Timbaland produced Chris Cornell would be an optimal opening act for GN'R.

Sorry if it offends you.

The problem with picking a GnR opner, is that the GnR audience is so "genere spread" I belive a straight forward Hard Rock band, or Rock n Roll band would be a safe guess..

My biggest wish would be something like Tool, Isis, Mastodon. Or maybe Faith No More..

Maybe Tool is too big for a opening act, but it would sure fill the stadiums with lots of Rock/Metal fans from a allaround genere..
