Poor kids......

Quote
Lynx and Lamb have been nurtured on racist beliefs since birth by their mother April. "They need to have the background to understand why certain things are happening," said April, a stay-at-home mom who no longer lives with the twins' father. "I'm going to give them, give them my opinion just like any, any parent would."

April home-schools the girls, teaching them her own unique perspective on everything from current to historical events. In addition, April's father surrounds the family with symbols of his beliefs ? specifically the Nazi swastika. It appears on his belt buckle, on the side of his pick-up truck and he's even registered it as his cattle brand with the Bureau of Livestock Identification.

How come the US version of social services hasn't dragged these kids from this evil mother? Surely there is a system in place to protect children from abusive parents?

I don't believe anything she's doing would qualify as abuse.

I used to work in a photolab, and one time I saw a picture of a small baby, maybe 1 year old, holding a gun (yes it was real). People, who I guess were the parents, were sitting behind him smiling.  I thought it must be illegal and called the police.  What they told me was there was nothing illegal, and if I was a member of the NRA I might think that was a great picture.  In other words, just because something is offensive to people, that doesn't make it illegal.  And as twisted as this families beliefs might be, its not illegal to have beliefs.

Not physical abuse, but the parents are obvioulsy not suitable and the mental well being of the children is grounds to take them into care. Over here children can be taken away from parents who are not intelligent enough to raise children.

That shit is sickening that's all I can say. Their albums or whatever they're trying to sell should be taken from the market. Some little impressionable 8/9 year old girl will go in pick up their CD see a picture of two blonde girls (not much unlike The Olsen twins) and it will warp their little minds. Disgusting.

And who decides who's intelligent enough?  Is there an IQ test? Here, its not illegal to be racist, homophobic, ultra religious, or ultra liberal.  Beliefs can never be illegal, only behavior can.  It doesn't mean that some people's beliefs aren't morally reprehensible, but they are not illegal.  When  freedom exists, it will sometimes lead to this kind of behavior. But should everyone give up their right to raise their children the way they believe is right because of a few idiots?

What are the laws on spreading a message about how the white race is the superior one or something similar?

I know here, you can (and probably will), get arrested if you stand on the town square saying things like that. Threatening people based on their skin color, sexuality, nationality, faith etc is illegal.

Apparently a preacher was sentenced to a month in jail because he was saying that AIDS appeared because of gay people (he had said other things too about gay people).

I'm not a lawyer, but yes, I believe it is? legal to stand on a street corner and say any offensive thing you want.? The KKK is allowed to demonstrate, and preachers can say disparaging things about gay people.? Threatening probably falls under a different category, but I think you might have to make a specific threat against a specific person for it to be illegal.? I could be wrong though.? But rappers have been talking about killing police for a long time, and no one has said that was illegal.?

The really stupid thing is that hate speech is allowed to go on, and no one really complains.  But Janet Jackson's breast caused a national incident and lead to censorship of anything remotely sexual, "bad" language, and fart jokes.

As long as the speech is not a direct threat to a person, ie, "I am going to kill you" then I think it is fine.  Exlcuding child pornography.

If they want to sing about a white homeland, let them.  No one is forcing you to listen to them.  You could even protest them in a peaceful manner.

Remember when people wanted to censure Appetite for Destruction and lies because they were mysoginst, racist, etc.  My how people forget so soon about these type of things.

But Axl explained his motives over "One In A Million" and even apologised, on the cover of GnR Lies, and elsewhere, to anyone that took offence. These people are singing about white supremecy like it's perfectly normal subject matter, they think it's ok and are even 'proud' of their message. That is what is most sickening about it.

Does anyone have any lyrics that these kids sing?  Are they singing about white supremacy or white separatism?

Any music with a target market of young children at an impressionable age glorifying negative subject matter, violence, racism, homophobia, etc. should at least carry a warning. I'm not trying to sound like a big censorship freak or anythin, but teaching children to approve of nazi viewpoints is wrong. I think 50 cent and Slayer can be excused since they are clearly aimed at an audience between 15-35, dressing two little girls up like the Olsen twins and getting them to sing about nazism is just ridiculous. Would you buy a 6-10 year old girl their CD?

Axl was defiant as far as censoring the record went as he felt he explained his motives with regard the song and felt it was viable. Not because he actually hates black people and wants everyone to know.

That sounds pretty good.  However, I would argue that 50 cent's target market goes lower than 15.  There are middle and elementary school fans of 50 cent.  And that is pathetic.  Slayer seems to be a little bit of an older target audience.

And no, I wouldn't buy those girls cd.  But, that is my right.  It is their right to put out the CD.  That is my point.

Also, what are these kids actually singing about.  Are they singing about supremacy, killing minorities, white separatism, anti interracial relationships?

This is important when you are talking about free speech.  The only one that I would be for censuring would be if they were telling their record buyers to kill minorities.  That is a direct threat.  Singing about white separatism is a belief.  I, you, the government have no right to tell someone what to believe, to a point.

Then they won't be around for long will they.  Its called free market capitalism.  The consumer is king.  You have the power to personally boycott or start a boycott.

Thats how you deal with issues like this, not by calling on the governement to come in and take over because you are personally offended.

Like I said, if every nutbag came to the government because they were offended about something, we wouldn't have had the experience that Guns N' Roses gave us.

Yeah, I kinda guessed it falls under freedom of speech.

Wonder what happens if somebody listens to a preacher, then goes out and assaults the people the preacher was going on about? Would the preacher be held responsible at all?

It's free speech but it led to something else.....

There have been lawsuits about stuff like that, for example, when Judas Preist was sued for a kid's suicide.  I don't think anyone has ever been successful with that kind of lawsuit however.

Oh yeah, I remember that. But it was more about a record telling people to kill themselves wasn't it?

Not a preacher telling others that certain groups of people are "bad".

It was a COVER SONG that Judas Priest played, and they somehow got in trouble for it instead of Spooky Tooth. Better By You, Better Than Me is even one of the happiest songs on the Stained Class album. If they had claimed the heaviness of Beyond The Realms Of Death inspired the suicide, they may have even had a point, since that song is so awesome.  peace

Heavy metal is just something some people don't understand. Freedom of speech is more important than being inoffensive; reality is offensive, live with it.
