Probably because GN'R is considered "cool" once again.

Just look at all the articles that have been written about the band recently (2004-2005).

I wonder when there'll be a real tribute album to cash in on the current GN'R "popularity".... And by a real tribute album I mean some well known artists covering GN'R songs, not just some hair metal or punk bands.

Nah, I don't want a tribute album to come out right now...maybe if Axl calls it a day but not now.

Probably not. It must be licensed type stuff like you see at Hot Topic. That's not official GN'R merchandise.

it's a little wierd tho that they licence old logos and such while they in fact are trying to buil a new fresh thing with new logos don't you think?

i wouldn't think that this is axl's work...

... and Walmart.

 - American's largest retailer.

I've wondered if this has to do with the Sanctuary deal as their subsidiery, Bravado, does licensed merchandising.

I agree. I've always thought there was no sense in making money off the old image, and that's why I concluded it wasn't official. I'm not sure who takes the decisions on what's allowed and what isn't  :-\

Good points, but what new image is there for Axl to make money off of? There aren't any new images, and thats why Axl has to keep milking the AFD cash cow. Of course, CD could change that. But until then, the milking will continue.

Well, he could milk the new logo for starters, and all its variations that were used for the t-shirts on the 2002 tour.  Not that many people would recognize it, but at least it's out there.
The fact that there were no old designs on the latest tour seems to indicate that Axl has no desire to use the Appetite cross or similar old stuff.

but then again the greatest hits record kind of boosted the ol' gn'r including the ol' logos and such and if axl has sold off his rights to the old stuff, sanctuary might milk it for all it's worth or? ???

I guess the new shirts with G&R on them were done that way so that Slash and Duff couldnt get money from each shirt sold?  ???

If the new deal includes all sorts of merchandise, I guess that's part of Sanctuary's strategy.

Pandora, you make a good point. But as long as there's no product to back up one of those 'new' logos, its not gonna sell, and it might do more harm than good. It would be like Nike creating a new logo and advertising the logo, but never actually releasing the shoes. To help get the new GNR ball rolling, Axl should have demanded that a new GNR logo appear somewhere in the greatest hits cd.

I've been able to find a ton of Guns shirts lately and also a "new" poster. Pretty basic, just says Guns N' Roses and has, uh, some guns and roses on the poster.....I'm finding more and more stuff.
