He's friends with Slash, Duff and Matt, and he played with Adler not too long ago. And he hangs out with the VR guys regularly!

So why isnt he a VR man??  He's practically the 6th member anyway - like Wes Arkeen was for GNR.

1. Does he not like Scott?

2. Does he just love releasing IMPORT-ONLY albums with great music that most people dont get to hear?  rant

3. He doesnt wanna be in a "big" band again?

btw, the GNR section of this board has gone completely mad - see the Axl snapped thread if you dont believe me.  so let's hear it for VR!  ok

According to Slash, Izzy is still so shattered over his experience with Axl, he never wants anything to do with a singer again.

Also, Izzy doesn't like touring on a big scale.  He just wants to play rock n roll music.  That's all that has ever mattered to him.

Has any interviewer asked Izzy himself how he feels about VR?

There was a Classic Rock (I think) interview where they asked him about nuGNR, but I dont know his thoughts about VR.

In any case, I just wish his music was more accessible to the general public.

I think Dizzy answered it well...

Izzy seems interesed mainly in "just playing music," rather than dealing with being in a high-profile band.

He doesn't wanna to have these controversies with his bandmates, Axl was quite enough for him. Now Izzy is the head and leader for himself and he just wants to create good music. Scandals, shows and tabloids are not for him anymore. Man  feels comforable.  peace

Izzy wants to sing just so he never has to deal with a lead singer again.

I can fully understand where Izzy's coming from. He gets my total support in whatever he does pretty much.

However, I really do hope him and Slash trade riffs together at some point. The results of when that happened are immense (Sweet Child O' Mine, Double Talkin' Jive etc...) and basically made Guns N' Roses into a blues-riff-rock leviathan.

Izzy has collaborated with VR...what has come of those collaborations and when/where they will turn up is unknown.

Be that as it may, when VR first began to take shape and Izzy was a member he was very keen to tour straight away according to Slash. Izzy suggested that he and Duff should take up vocal duties

VR would have been so much better with Izzy in there....maybe i would care about them a bit more if he was onboard....I still say he would make a better vocalist than Scott Weiland.......

You're right - I remember reading that somewhere - but Slash said they should take things slowly.  I believe this was the same interview where Slash said that Izzy was "shattered" by lead singers.  But I dont know if there have any recent interviews where Izzy himself was asked about his feelings and involvement with VR.

Ahh - but it seems like he is!  just as an invisible support.. maybe?  Perhaps he will be credited on the forthcoming release?

Izzy and Duff are great on background vocals. They don't have what it takes to be frontmen. You need stage presense, range, breathe support and they don't have any of that while guys like Scott and Axl do.

I wouldnt want Izzy on vocals for all of the songs - In my opinion a front man is definatly needed. However on guitar Izzy would rule with VR - If they take him on tour or something as like as a 3rd guitarist that would be amazing!

I agree. But in that case we would have a real opposition to new GNR - 4 out of 5!!!  Smiley

Izzy was involved with the band in the begining, but when the reality of the band being a touring band came about he pulled out, before any singers were even auditioned or brought up... Last I heard, he was still involved witht he band in a co-writing capasity, and according to Dave Kushner, he dropped by the studio often when they were recording. Izzy, Slash, and Duff have been working together for years since their split from Axl.
