I used to read Amazing Spider-man. (early 90's series). Also Iron-Man of the same era.
I still remember a scene where spider-man astonished when Iron-man contacted through his cell phone (machinery in his helmet).  :hihi:
That was marvel's universe, thousands of heroes and extremely advanced technology, but the own of a cell phone was still a sciense fiction scenario even from Iron-Man

With Marvel comics sometimes an issue could have a great story and artwork and the very next issue might suck. I picked up an X-men at the newsagent yesterday, because I remembered this thread? ;), and the artwork was fairly awfull so I didn't buy it. It was ESSENTIAL X-MEN by the way, which one do you read? ???

I suggest both Exiles and Supreme Power(both by Marvel). Both are consistently good and original stories.

I don't want to ruin the story of Spawn so this is all I'm gonna say: A man called Al Simmons who is an assasin for the American government is killed (can't tell you how). He strikes a deal with the devil (can't tell you why). He comes back to earth as a Hellspawn....

It's a great comic, you should definetley read them. I can't really compare it to X-Men, they're two totally different types.

I'm a "reformed" comic geek...ok, maybe reformed isn't the right word...how about "former".

I've got bat books from the early 80's right up through '03....along with LOTS of other stuff...

But in '03...I quit cold turkey.  No time to read 'em anymore......

Is this one actually worth anything today? #1 Spawn?

X-Men? #1 = definetley
Spawn #1 = I'm not sure, I? haven't kept any of mine, they don't sell Spawn in normal newsagents anymore but probably in comic book stores. If you have Spawn #1 go to a collecter/comic book store and ask them, it could be worth something it's always worth checking the value of them.

In my opinion, I would value Spawn #1 as being worth $100
