Title: What amp are they referring to
Post by: Rockdawg on January 24, 2007, 10:19:13 AM
This is from the VOX valvetronic 30 manual.  It is talking about the amp models it has:

10.US HIGAIN
This is modelled on the Overdrive Channel of an all-tube, 100 Watt head built in
1991 and covered in snakeskin! US HIGAIN is capable of a powerful, heavily saturated
sound that combines an open low-end with compressed mids and highs.
The result is a tone that remains focused and well defined at even the most
extreme gain settings. These attributes have made this head a favourite with several
of the world?s leading players.
Original?s tube compliment: 4 x 12AX7s in preamp, 4 x 6L6s in power amp.

Are they talking about a Slash Marshall?  I did not think they were made in the 90's.

Basically, anything like a JCM 900.

But, the manual states that it was a 90's model covered in snakeskin.  That is kind of calling it out.

Marshall makes limited runs with different colors and patterns. Just because it's snakeskin doesn't make it Slash's.
None of his amps had snakeskin. The Slash model came with a snakeskin cover, but  was black.
Actually, what does this setting sound like? That should be the determining factor.

Wrong IMO.

It's probably the Soldano SLO100. 'Snakeskin' is one of their standard colors. Can't be the Slash Marshall bcoz those had EL84s.
