I remember back in the day, When it was cool to listen to rock instead of hip hop, My first memories of R&R were back during the freddy tribute era, I remember that bohemian rhapsody went back to the charts. Up until that point i was listening to michael jackson, Im very happy i got into the rock n roll. So......people. Answer the question, Which band first got you into ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!!!!?

I listened to a bit of Bon Jovi when I was really young (Slippery When Wet era) but I mainly listened to top 40 radio stuff. I'd say it was GN'R that I got into in my teens that made me the rock n roll nutter that I am today and will be for life

I remember being a very young dude, about 8 or 9, and my sister was given an LP with rock music featuring WASP, Queensryche, Dio and so many other I cant recall but I was inmensily pleased with hooky in mouth by Megadeth which was great, still is, then at age of 10 my sister was listening a song called SCOM so inmediately I went to buy my first cassette and at the age of 11 I was listening Guns N Roses, the band that really got me into rock and roll, and my first album was AFD

Every rainy day when we were kids me and my brother would put on Queen live at wembley, a video that my dad had taped off the TV of the concert. We would also listen to our parents old Beatles records, the original singles on vinyl. We would have pots and pans set up as a drum kit and tennis rackets for guitars and play along.

Black Sabbath for me, I had their tape when I was fucking six no lie....I heard Iron Man and was obsessed with the song. My mom was so hesitant to buy the tape for me but thank god she did. Then came Aerosmith and Def Leppard, then GNR.

I remember listening to AC/DC when I was five years old. So I guess that was it. GNR came in later, but they've had the most staying power in my musical life.

GnR, and more specifically Axl have definately had the most staying power for me, too. He's pretty much in a league of his own, vocally(although he might be Janis Joplin reincarnated). Lyrically he is in great company, too.

What's cool about this thread is that you can kinda get an idea of how old people are based upon who they cite as being their introduction to rock music.? I can't think of a time in my life when i didn't listen to rock music.? My dad was a musician so I grew up around music.? He was a huge Beatles, and more specifically, a John Lennon fan.? Rubber Soul is one of the first records I really remember hearing (from him of course).? I loved the sound that Dire Straits got from their guitars and after hearing money for nothing I knew that I wanted to learn how to make a guitar do that.? Not long after that I got my first Def Leppard and Bon Jovi records. Ok, life story is over? ? We'll go with The Beatles ?

when i was young i was hardcore into boybands and pop music, my first rock band was Our Lady Peace, then i started to like Nu-metal (linkin park, korn etc) and a few years ago when velvet revolver released contraband i loved it right away so much more than anything else. and then i found out about guns n' roses and have been travelling back in time ever since.

I have alwasy been a fan of music since I was really little with my Raffi records. I loved songs but not untill Dr Feelgood and The Razor's Edge did I actually start paying attention to bands. That's when I started to put songs to bands and actually care who sang them. Then the video for You Could Be Mine came out and I was blown away. Axl looked and sounded so damn cool, Slash and his red guitar looked fucking deadly. I was hooked. The Illusion albums were the first albums I ever bought(on cassette) and I quickly became a massive Guns N' Roses fan. I'll always give Guns the credit for truely getting me into music in terms of haveing a genuine interest in bands rather than simply likeing songs that I heard. then after the Spaghetti Incident they dissapead and my musical taste shifted to Radiohead, The Cure, U2 and bands along those lines. It would have been interesting to see how my musical tatse would've developed had Guns put out another album or two in the second half of the 90's.

I've always listened to The Beatles, since I was very little (my dad's a Beatle freak), but that was the only good band I listened to. What really got me into Rock n' Roll when I was 10/11 years old was hanging out with people who listened to Nirvana, SOAD, stuff like that. And my sister had just bought Live Era, I think that was the main thing. I also have this cousin who is crazy about Iron Maiden, he would come to my house and we would listen to Maiden all day and play that game, Ed Hunter.? I can't say it was one band only, quite a few actually, but mainly the ones mentioned above.
