NEW YORK (Reuters) - A Delaware judge on Friday ordered a man who twice exposed himself to a 10-year-old girl at his workplace to wear a T-shirt with the words: "I am a registered sex offender" in bold letters, a prosecutor said.

Russell Teeter, 69, who pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent exposure, also was sentenced to 60 days in jail by Superior Court Judge Jan Jurden in Wilmington.

Deputy Attorney General Donald Roberts said he requested the unusual T-shirt punishment because he was concerned about Teeter exposing himself to children at the gardening business he runs with his wife.

"This is a unique way to let his customers know that he is a sex offender," Roberts told Reuters.

Roberts said Teeter had at least 10 prior convictions dating back to 1976 for exposing himself to children and had been diagnosed as a compulsive exhibitionist.

Teeter, who has 30 days to appeal the sentence, will have to wear the T-shirt at work for 22 months after he gets out of jail.

Teeter's attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.

Hey no fair, they stole my idea!! About two weeks ago me and a mate were yakkin' on about suitable punishments for criminals of certain kinds, and I said, "Well, everyone hates sex offenders of all kinds, so why not make them wear a tee shirts sayin' "I'm a rapist" or "I'm a molester" on them so that people will shun them and beat them up and stuff... you know, REAL punishment, cuz jail is just crap and they'll get let out in 0.3 of a second anyway so ya..."

I could just see the novelty T-shirts they'd make as jokes for the regular public if this became a law.

Well, we can do things like this and Meagan's law, or we can just change the sentencing guidelines so that these people never get out of prison.  The fact is that these sex offenders are often repeat offenders.  If people want to let them out of prison, we need to know who they are.

If people want to let them out of prison, we need to know who they are.?

why?

will knowing which person in the street is a pest help u in anyway?

What would u do with the info?

Move town?

Harass the individual?

Live in fear because suddenly it seems like these people are everywhere?

Its better not to know - because ultimately there is nothing you could do about it
