You're In The Jungle Toronto,You're Gonna Dieee

« on: February 17, 2005, 03:43:44 PM »

Bruce Springsteen's 19th album, "Devils & Dust," is in the can and set to hit stores April 26, according to his publicist.

The Columbia Records release features a dozen newly recorded tracks produced by Brendan O'Brien, who also turned the knobs on Springsteen's 2002 album, "The Rising." A tour is planned; details will be announced "shortly," according to a press release.

"Devils & Dust" was recorded at Thrill Hill Recording Studios in Los Angeles and New Jersey; additional engineering took place at Southern Tracks Recording in Atlanta.

Pre-release buzz indicates that the album is more of a Springsteen solo project than an E Street Band project.

Two of the tracks on "Devils & Dust"--"The Hitter" and "Long Time Comin'"--were performed live during Springsteen's tour in support of 1995's "The Ghost of Tom Joad," but haven't previously appeared on albums.

The Springsteen fan site backstreets.com reports that a song titled "Devils & Dust" was played during rehearsals for last year's "Vote for Change" tour, but wasn't performed in concert.

"Devils & Dust" tracklist:

1. "Devils & Dust"
2. "All the Way Home"
3. "Reno"
4. "Long Time Comin'"
5. "Black Cowboys"
6. "Maria's Bed"
7. "Silver Palomino"
8. "Jesus Was an Only Son
9. "Leah"
10. "The Hitter"
11. "All I'm Thinkin' About"
12. "Matamoras Banks"

Man, I absolutely love Broooooooce.  They call him "The Boss" for a reason.  Still, I don't know if I'm that excited, to tell you the truth.  I really prefer the older Bruce stuff, when he's talking from a young man's perspective about stuff I can relate to.  Then again, I hear he's going to be tackling stuff like the war in Iraq on this new album, and since Bruce is probably my favourite lyricist ever, this should be cool.

I was never a huge fan, although I do like his 'Born in the USA' album. My favorite song from him is 'Cover Me'. One song of his that I absolutely hate is 'Streets of Philadelphia'. I was shocked that it won a bunch of awards. Especially when you consider the fact that a vastly superior song was on the same soundtrack: Neil Young's 'Philadelphia'.

Simply awesome, one of the greatest artists ever. Just Buy the Live in NYC DVD and you'll be a fan. It happened to me. I can't name just a favorite song, but that would be Jungleland. Just a epic piece of poetry. And that sax solo  drool

But I love other songs like Born To Run, Thunder Road, Backstreets, The Promised Land, Darkness on the Edge of Town, Rosalita, Out in the Street, Independence day, The River

Man, there's so many songs. The guy is awesome, especially live

I love Bruce...one of my all-time favorites.  I prefer his stuff with the E Street Band, but his stuff without them is also very good.  I can't wait to see him live next month.  Rosalita is my favorite song of his.  You don't really hear too much about him on this board.  I always assumed there weren't too many fans of his here.

Axl sang "Come Together" with Bruce in 1994, right before Axl was kidnapped by aliens and replaced with a clone. I hear Axl's doing pretty well on Vulcan these days.

Going to see him in Ft Lauderdale. It will be my 3rd time seeing him but the 1st without the E-Street Band.

Definitely one of my favorite artists ever. The River is probably my favorite album of his.

I have to agree with jameslofton though, "Philadelphia" by Neil Young is a far superior song in my opinion.

I did a quick search, but I didnt find any topics about him... Which is suprising?

I love Bruce.  My parents used to listen to him when I was younger and now I love him!  My fave songs are Jungleland, Thunder Road, Sandy (4th July on Asbury Park), Rosalita, Jersey Girl and The River.

I recently just brought his box set and I am on a Boss high at the moment!!

Who else loves the Boss?  Anyone met him?  Seen him live?

I love Bruce Springsteen's music, he's awesome. My mom has seen him live before, I don't know when and where though.

My favorite songs are Born in the USA, I'm on Fire, Born to Run, Glory Days, Streets of Philadelpia, Growing Up and plenty of more . . .

Where did you ever get the inspiration forsuch a great topic?  Wink smoking

One of the last succesful songwriters that havent resorted to nostalgia tours at this point. Still writes relavent and fresh songs. I've seen him live on the Born In the USA tour in 86(?), the E-Street Band Reunion Tour(99) and the most recent solo/acoustic(mostly) tour in support of "Devils and Dust". Each show had completely different vibes, but all of them made me leave the venue feeling that I just witnessed something special.

Everyone knows his big hits, I kind of like the more obscure ones myself:

1. Stolen Car
2. Dream Baby Dream
3. Back In Your Arms
4. Trapped
5. Tougher Than The Rest
6. Happy
7. You're Missing
8. Drive All Night
9. Downbound Train
10. Reason To Believe
