Here Today... Gone To Hell!

The coroner in Pennsylvania's Lancaster County says at least six people are dead after Monday's shooting in a one-room Amish schoolhouse.

It's not clear if the shooter is among the six, but state police had earlier said he'd been killed.

The coroner says helicopters were arriving "like crazy" at Lancaster General Hospital -- where a spokesman tells a TV station that three girls were admitted with gunshot wounds, all in critical condition. Officials at another hospital confirmed that victims were also admitted there.

Some two hours after the shooting, about three dozen people in traditional Amish clothing, including hats and bonnets, were seen standing near the small school building, talking to one another and to authorities.

The school is located among farmlands outside a tiny village about 60 miles west of Philadelphia.

Uhm dude, it's an Amish school..I don't think they listen to much Guns N Roses.  Anyhow this place is close to me, everyone around here is totally freaking out and there are state police all over the place.

My parents live about 30-60 minutes from there...my dad works in a nearby HS too.  Just as easily could have been his school.  Really messed up.

This is the 3rd school shooting in ONE WEEK!  This is just insane.

Yeah, plus the one in Canada and the others from this year.  It's been a crazy year for that stuff.  Really I think it's going to come to the point where it's gonna basically be like a prison.  Controlled entry and exit from the facility and an escort/pass system for all visitors.  A good chunk of small city schools don't have metal detectors even though that was the big solution before.  However it still wouldn't stop something like this.  I've been past that school and it's literally nothing but a one room building.  It's sad it's come to this security wise, but you have to fight fire with fire. 

It's the new thing, eh.

I heard something about a principal that got shot with a handgun after the shooters rifle was grabbed away by a janitor...

The thing about it is, these ones aren't kids.  Well the one where the kid shot the principal was......but this amish one was a milk truck driver who was an adult.  The one in Canada wasn't a student either I don't believe.  It's just people walking into a school and picking victims then killing themselves.  Either way, it's fucked.

It was a 32 year old man who picked a random defenseless school.  He targeted girls only.

The shooting that happened at the school in Colorado last week was also done by adult...  Yes, there is a problem with children and guns here, but these last few occurences were not done by children...  These are very tragic stories...

I saw this on the news today very sad.  :( One sick fuck to do what he did.

Now they're saying only three kids died and the shooter.  Seven more had injuries and three of those seven were in critical condition.  Totally sad to see this stuff.  Especially on the Amish out of anyone, that's what's so uncanny about this situation.

My sons schools are like that.  They are locked in once everyone arrives and if I go there, I have to be escorted to where I am going.  It's a pain in the ass, but what's the other option?  :-\

I don't think that would even stop someone though.  you can't have multiple/armed security guards in every school...its just impossible.

two more of the kids died bringing the total dead to 5.  I don't see how the other kids are going to survive and/ore be normal if they do......i would imagine a head shot via execution style is fairly lethal

today are the funerals for the 5 children. really sad stuff. total dead will likely be 6 real soon as one of the others is not doing well.

interesting people though....they had about 1,500 people from the community at each of the viewings. and families are urging forgiveness. they have even reached out to the family of the killer to offer support and convince them to stay local.

classy move by Gov. Rendell - he put restrictions on news coverage and implemented a no-fly zone to ensure privacy for the community today during the funerals.
