Yeah, just as the topic suggests. I came up with an idea of a supergroup and I was wondering who I would want to join. However, there's a twist. I thought that it would be interesting to see if we could all compile supergroups made up of our favourite deceased musicians. It does sound kinda morbid, but think of the great music that could've been, had these legends survived. I can't imagine this becoming very popular, but I think it'd be interesting to get a few different opinions. I'll start.
Here's my idea of the ideal blues-based rock band with all deceased members: Vocals: Janis Joplin Lead guitar: Stevie Ray Vaughan Rhythm guitar and songwriting: John Lennon Bass: John Entwistle Drums: John Bonham Piano/Keyboards: Ray Charles

I do sincerely hope that some of you are joking about not knowing Joplin has been dead for 36 years. Ray has been dead for 2 years so little grace will be extended but not much. Perhaps you should pick up a newspaper from time to time, watch CNN or get off the damn computer and come back to the real world.

I wasn't joking that I didn't know Joplin had died. I have a few tunes on my computer that I listenned to but never bought any albums or followed up on any bio's or anything. And can you explain how reading a newspaper or watching CNN, which tend to deal with current affairs, would have enlightened me to her death? CNN

I thought I'd come up with a new band, something rockier, glammier, sleazier, and metaller, for us head bangers... Let's see...
Vocals: Bon Scott Lead Guitar: Randy Rhoads Rhythm Guitar: Criss Oliva (maybe he and Randy could do some duelling solos!) Bass: Cliff Burton Drums: Randy Castillo

I think I'll not really do a band just name a shit load of people! cos there's a load of people I could think of that deserve to be in this.
Freddie Mercury - Vocals Jimi Hendrix - Guitars Keith Moon - Drums John Entwistle - Bass Phil Lynott - Vocals/Bass Rhandy Rhoads - Guitar Bon Scott - Vocals John Bonham - Drums John Lennon - Vocals/Piano/Guitar George Harrison - Guitar Jim Morrison - Vocals Dime Bag Darrel - Guitars
That'll do for now I think, I'll probably think of someone really important that I left out later on and slap myself, but I'll leave it at that

Vocals: Freddie and Shannon doing a duet thingie, that would sound AWESOME!!!
Lead Guitar: Randy Rhoads, Jimi Hendrix, and Dimebag doin a trio Lynyrd Skynyrd thingie.
Rhythm Guitar: Kurt Cobain... if he can actually tune his guitar correctly, and then not smash it up halfway through a song.
Bass: Cliff Burton... or Sid Vicious... (if he can now actually play!)
Drums: John Bonham.

Kurt could barely play rhythm guitar... So cliched and weak you are. The point wasn't "how great" he is... he has a style that no one else can do now. Him being in the band would give it some edge. Playing fast isn't the best man. Style is what he would bring to that group.

Thanks for that I'm not concerned about how fast he is (or was), just whether he can play lead guitar at all when he can barely play rhythm guitar, thats all. This of course is just my opinion.

I'd put Cobain writing lyrics. That's his strongest quality, in my opinion. Although, as far as deceased lyricists are concerned, I'd have to go with Lennon over him... maybe they could collaborate on a couple of songs. That would be sweet!

Hmm... as well as having the ones I put earlier, I'd have Mozart as the main writer for all the music! I've just been watching Amadeus so I got a bit inspired!

No way man! Mozart could hear perfect music in his head and just write it down with no errors or need for corrections! Mozart = old timey equivalent to Axl Beethoven = old timey equivalent to Scotty-boy. Salieri = old timey equivalent of Slash.

haha... gotta love those forum arguments... Mozart vs. Beethoven! haha... I'd like to see Mozart make a press release about how Salieri said Beethoven was a phony. Then Beethoven freaks out and writes a stupid rebuttal on his website, insulting Mozart's wig and creativity....

And then Beethoven discovers that yes... he's tone deaf! (Actually that's fact. Beethoven was actually tone-deaf...) And then he checks into the Betty Ford clinic for his chronic crack addiction...

I just thought of something with regards to our lack of dead bass players. Why didn't anyone think of Jaco Pastorius? He's done things with the bass that I wouldn't dream of.
Maybe I'll put him in a band with Frank Zappa, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Keith Moon. That would be one sick ensemble.
