Climatology was a minor hobby of mine years ago. A good look at the early days of the science can be found in C.E.P. Brooks' pivotal work "Climate Through The Ages". It has been republished through Penquin Books. While it is dated, it give a good overview of the fagility of the climate.

Cool, when I get some time I'll see if I can track it down.

Just out of curiosity, I'm in Australia and our prospective PM (one Kevin Rudd) is stating that he will sign the Kyoto agreement if he is elected. Our current PM (Johnny Howard as I'm sure you all know) says that Kyoto is fucking pointless unless you get the worlds biggest polluters (China and India) to agree to binding targets like the rest of the world, and that the Sydney Declaration agreed at APEC (which does indeed incorporate these targets for developed AND developing countries) is a better start.

What do you all feel? Should Australia and America sign Kyoto or not?

Before you answer, how about giving this a quick peruse too. I know it's shitty wikipedia, but you'll still get the idea.
