Aye.

Started watching it a few months ago and whizzed through the first two seasons, it's really well done stuff.

I preferred the 1st Season, you seemed to have a cool set formula, Dexter goes after someone, kills them and along the way the other little things such as his sister and girlfriend are on his mind.  Add in a few flashbacks and a season long mystery, I think in many ways it was darker.

Season 2 Dexter, seemed at times to lose his dark edge, if anything you got the feeling that he might, might, being going towards being humanised.  Jaime Murray was fantastic, maybe it was just me but when she first met Dexter it reminded me of the way Norton and Bonham-Carter meeting in Fight Club.

Doakes was a favourite of mine as well so it was a shame what happened, although I realise this is based on books and obviously they were loosely following what happens in them.

Yeah, you're dead on accurate about the change in Season formats. I liked S2 quite a bit though, and I think they purposely tried to not make the same season over and they succeeded. I also felt like Dex was becoming way too normal, and liked what happened at the end. As for Doakes - I liked his character and the back and forth between he and the Dex man, but once he got locked in the cage, I knew he had to go, .....otherwise they'd have to have started calling the show Doakes instead of Dexter, because there clearly was not room for both of them after that point.

I've caught parts of this show and it seemed pretty cool.  When does it start back up?  I kept telling my wife we should check it out, but whatever night it was on, it just didn't work.  10 o'clock is late! (and I don't have dvr/tivo).

Oh don't get me wrong, I really liked the season as well, the stuff with his sister and the legend that is Carradine was great.

My favourite aspect of the season was probably seeing him get into so many awkward situations where you could not imagine him not getting caught (although you knew for the sake of the series he would avoid it), the suspense they built up and the showdown with Doakes was great, having not read the books either I have no idea where they are going with this but just hope for more of the same high quality stuff.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darkly_Dreaming_Dexter

4 Books: Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Dearly Devoted Dexter, Dexter in the Dark, Dexter by Design.  The 4th book is due out in '09.

From what I've read in the wiki page there are some differences between the novels and tv series...

Great!  Not only is 10:00 too late for me to see the tv show, it's too late for me to ask questions of the man with that screen name!  hihi

ps, can't wait to see Axl in Philly!  When am I up late/all night?  If the kids are sick and need me...or for Guns N' Fucking Roses!!!

Too funny!  NOW, this thread is bumped and there's a new interest in the show - just because of the name Dexter.   hihi

I started watching this show a few months after it first aired on Showtime...

Ofcourse nobody plays it here in Greece, so I have to download it and watch it. I've "forced" many friends of mine to sit down and watch the show and they loved it.

I wouldn't expect anything less from Axl... Especially for his username on these forums... Grin

My brother "forced" me to watch it too. Every time I saw him he'd be like "have you watched Dexter yet?!" ha

It's an awesome show.

It's an interesting concept...a serial killer killing only bad people.

i like the show, even if i preferred dexter in 1st series, but things go on, and it was normal he became always more "human". story and characters evolved.

when i'll find them , i'll buy the books.
