I am really pumped for this cd and hope it does well. ?That being said, I am not to impressed with the little I heard of each song on the page. ?Kind of all sounds the same. ?Hopefully, the full versions are better and the others on the cd.

Well i dont know, i was unimpressed by all the songs i heard maybe i was expecting too much but its just contraband part 2 i thought this was going in another direction or something, i hope the Album is much better then these clips.

And i aint a VR hater

I agree, as a fellow VR non-hater.  I thought Contraband was good...not the best album ever, but good.  But this just seems very uninspired to me.

Yeah, when I get a album I expect at least 4 songs I love, and 2 songs I like, the rest can be filler that's fine.

This is just 1/4 the album so maybe the rest is good? I hope so.

SBQM is fuckin awesome.

Put on some headphones and crank it. I promise u will hear shit u havent heard before.

I hate Scott's "Motor Clean" Cheese lyric but the chorus is fuckin Bad Ass and Slash's playing is awesome! This song makes me fuckin move!

Cranking things and using headphones is bad for the eardrums.

rofl rofl Well, they supposedly ARE the "most dangerous rock band" out there...

Anyway, I agree with D: I though SBQM was crappy at first, but this studio version is miles above the youtube one. Nothing earth-shaking, obviously, but a good song indeed. I think it will do nicely in the charts.

The rest was all right; I?m looking forwards to hearing the whole thing. Thank God the production has improved...I always thought CB?s sucked.

BTW, Slash?s solo in SBQM is awesome, he should have totally kept going at it through the rest of the song, rather than going back to rhythm. Oh, well.

I agree. What is even cooler about it is that he said in an article recently he hit that solo on one take. He has a true gift at being able to listen to something and then be able to fit his solo into it seemlessly while keeping the flow of the song. He just feels something and goes with it, which is probably why he has always been revered for the amount of feel his solos have, as they don't have that slaved over feeling where they have been tweaked to death to hit every note.

Is it me, or do the drums at the beginning of SBQM sound awful?  Kind of in the vein of St. Anger, and we all know how THAT was received...

I noticed that too, and I didnt like it. But after all, I think Matt does a great job in these new songs.

I'm just hoping it's because of the stream quality or because these aren't "final" versions.

It's not the stream. Encode the ''You Could Be Mine'' drum intro from UYI2 to [mp3 32kbps] and the drums won't sound as bad as in SBQM.

I don't know guys,

I listened to the clips.

she mine clip at first I'm thinking WOW , and then it slams on the brakes and scott starts singing. it goes back and forth from cool to lame. Damn slash is doing some cool stuff on that.

Spay I like music wise but it is not great and again I do not think scott is right with the music.

last fight - I have to say I like it, it will be a great song on the radio.? Even scott seems to fit that song.

SBQM as I said elsewhere music wise is awsome,? lyric wise it sounds corny and scott sucks on it.

Overall - Music wise A to A +
Lyric / vocals wise C

I do not epect them to sound like something else, but face it 2 (3 to some) of the guys are fucking legends, and I think Scott does not seem to fit them. They are rockers and he gives me that glame pop rock feeling. He is holding them back. IMHO

I never got into STP, maybe if I did I would like it more, i dunno

Do alot of you guys that love scott , were you crossovers from the stp scene

On this board?  Probably not.

GNR and STP were two of my favorite bands, so it worked out well for me.

What is the song called they did on the VR blog that talks about satellites or space or something.... Cant remember the exact lyric.

You mean the "Radar signal seeking you but finding nothing at all" part?

I believe that's from messages...

I have a couple of STP albums, and I think he sounds a lot better on those than with VR.  The styles are different, and it seems like they want to put a square peg in a round hole.

Stone Temple Pilot's music is fantastic. They were a hit-machine, and they have some songs that are really, really brilliant (''Plush'', ''Big Bang Baby'', ''Interstate Love Song'', ''Dead & Bloated'', etc)

The unplugged version of ''Plush'' at MTV is timeless... Weiland's voice doesn't sound like that anymore, sadly...

All the previous bands of the VR bandmembers are bigger/greater bands than VR... Stone Temple Pilots, Guns N' Roses, Slash's Snakepit, Neurotic Outsiders, The Cult, ?Infectious Grooves?

Square peg comment sounds dead on to me. i never bought any stp albums, I though some songs were great like mentiioned above. Diffrent styles indeed. I think scott is more suited for that type of music.

It's called growing old, it happens to everyone. Age is a bitch to singers unfortunately because people expect the power in your voice you had in your 20's when you hit your 40's and it just isn't realistic. It happens to even the best of them. I do think Scott actually sounds better though on what we have heard so far than Contraband, so I guess that is a mini victory.

It's actually growing on me, that song.

I'm still pumped for Libertad.. although I don't expect a masterpiece. I just hope it will be as good as a STP record.. 'cause I love most of STP stuff.
