Without rock, they'd be no music..........

Anyway, I probably wouldn't listen to a thing, but because even comedy CDs I have (Kinison, Hicks) are heavily influenced by rock music as well, so they wouldn't be who they are. I guess I'd listen to the voices in my head.

I don't put these 2 kind of music on the same level. Rock music is a whole culture, it began with Elvis prestley, it comes from the Blues, it's a SINCERE music. Rock music is very strong.
Metal or heavy-metal or whetever you call that is a joke for me. the whole "death - catacombs- blood- vampire" etc... is weird. I can't take this music seriously. I rate the backstreet boys and britney spears a thousand miles ahead than any heavy metal bands. Sure kurt Cobain was wrong about Axl and GN'R, I think it was personal reasons between him and axl, but the guy had totally right when he said how ridiculous was Metal/hair metal bands. he "killed" that sh... and that was an exellent thing.I do think like him: I don't understand this music. When I see Manowar, it's just...well...The Gallagher's brothers say it better than me Smiley
Some GN'R fans are mainly Classic- Rock fans (the majority I think, considering GN'R music is very diversified, and that the band was clearly a Rock band), some others are metal fans, some others love them both, personately, i'm among the 1st category. I'm mainly a Rock fan, I listen to absolutely EVERYTHING exept:
- massive hip-hop
- industrial music/gothic and all that silly psycho music
- metal/heavy metal

I don't dislike boys/girls band. I know it's not great music, I know this is a very manufactured music,? but I like some britney spears or backstreet boys or spice girls songs. I'm not ashamed to say it.?

finally among al my "GN'R friends" in life , none of them, absolutely none of them are into metal. as me, and as many GN'R fans, they are maiinly into bands like Queen, Rolling Stones, pearl Jam, the doors, dire Straits, elton John, Bruce springsteen etc... Classic-rock music, from the 50's to the 90's.

That's exactly what all those MTV pricks say. Don't stereotype all of heavy metal based solely off death metal and hair metal, man.

Iron Maiden.

Black Sabbath.

Van Halen.

Motorhead.

Need I continue?

If there were no rock or metal, I'd probably be listening to country.  Lately I've been getting into it as a genre, but I prefer the rawer stuff like Hank Williams or Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash; the slick Nashville acts don't do much for me.  Aside from that, I'm a fiend for classical music (always big on Beethoven and Mozart, but lately I've gotten into Paganini; the guy was the Malmsteem of his time).

Neil Young is "rock", it's also blues, country and folk...
there's so thin line between "blues" & "rock".

I have taste in other music besides Rock n' Roll/Heavy Metal. I love classical stuff like music themes composed in movies by artists like John Williams and Danny Elfman. Blues is cool , sounds the same though. Some punk is decent. Definetly not rap or techno, way out of my league. I love acoustic stuff and Bob Marley is pretty decent too.

Fuck, just imagine if there was no rock and roll, if there was none, i proberbly would not be here today, it has saved me a couple of times, and i would be destroyed without it.

Techno. Back in the day there used to be a dance club I would hang out in. Right across the street they opened a rock club. I would get stamped at both of them, going back and forth as the night went on. I'd dance for an hour, then go listen to rock, then go back and dance some more. So much fun. I turned my die hard metalhead friend into a techno junkie. hihi

Jazz, I love jazz late at night. Chick Correa, Miles, Herbie Hancock....

Old school Rap: Seems so much better then the crap today.

Somehow you would not have struck me as the techno type.
