The buck stops here!

I almost forgot Scott Ian.......I actually shared a terminal shuttle with him a Dulles Airport in Washington DC, even though I didn't speak to him because he was on his phone talking to someone.  It was just us on there....at first I didn't even recognize him because he was really spiffied up in a nice suit and all, but the giant striped bush of hair hanging off his chin kind of gave it away.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Right, I'm talking about "The Angels" here. Great aussie pub rock band! Adelaide boys. When they first started they would do gigs in school halls for a 20 cent entry fee. They used to perform regularly at the Old Lion........

A mate of mine used to do the sound checks for them. Doc Neeson was at his performing peak and the rest of the band memebers were always great to hang around with....The line up did change from time to time.

Well, in the 80s, Doc was in a serious car accident. Stoped him performing. Over the last 2 years the original band members, minus Doc, have been touring around the country. They have been using the name, 'The Original Angels Band', which they are....

Anyway, at a gig last year I was chatting to John Brewster asking what's up with Doc and whether they were asked to do the 'Countdown Spectacular' gig. John said it would take a miracle to get Doc to perform and that they had tried to do everything to help Doc.

Well, to my great suprise, 'Doc Neeson's Angels' are supposed to be performing at the Countdown gig tomorrow. Alot of us were hoping for a suprise reunion with the other original band memnbers. Instead, today I read in the paper that Doc has taken out an injunction to stop the original members using the name 'The Angels'. He's already taken them to court about it, that is why the originals call themselves 'The Orginal Angels Band' and Doc goes by 'Doc Neeson's Angels'.
Sad.

So, in the spirit of Rock & Roll and for old times sake - I hope Doc realizes that this should be all about the music! This fighting just kills the music.

I'll be sitting 3 rows from the front - don't know if I will cheering Doc this time......

-I've met Jerry Only of the Misfits about a thousand times. He is always hanging out with everyone after the shows and a friend of mine used to date his daughter. Amazingly cool guy.
-My friends and I met Danzig for a minute after a show of his in Philadelphia. Not much interaction, just signed our stuff and laughed when my friend and I screamed "Murdilation!"
-We also met Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein at the same Danzig show.
-I met Dave Mustaine and all the new Megadeth guys a few months ago at a record store signing.
-I met Marky Ramone after a Misfits show he played.

But saving the best for last...a couple years ago My friends and I went to a small club in Long Island to see Gilby Clarke. We waited for him after the show and Gilby was just the most amazingly cool person ever. My friends and I were all like 20 at the time and he speant about a half hour talking to us. Not even just saying bullshit leave me alone stuff you get from some people, I mean actual conversations with us. He signed a million things, took even more pictures with us, and told us all how cool he thought we were. My friends and I spent the rest of the drive back to Jersey and a stop at a diner talking about how great Gilby was and how "Gilby Clarke said we were cool". I can't imagine for the rest of my life having such a great experience meeting someone I admire as much. You're the man Gilby!

......and while Bruce Campbell may not be a rock star to some, he is to me. I met Bruce on his book tour, and tried asking him when Evil Dead 4 was happening. It's not lol.

I met Gilby at the begining of this year when he played his solo shows in Canada. Hung around after and got a picture taken with him too. Way cool cat.
I also met Vinnie Paul this year, for the third time. He and the rest of Hellyeah were fucking cool.

Awesome, I would love to meet Vinnie Paul. I've been listening to Pantera since I was about ten. Never liked damageplan tho and I have not heard Hell Yeah Yet. Yeah but Gilby is truely as awesome as anyone gets.

Haha - I had backstage to Poison years ago, and Cinderella and Winger were on the bill, so I ran into a few of the guys backstage.

I'd love to add more past and present GN'R members to that list though!  Grin

I've met Matt numerous times during his time in The Cult, he was extremely cool every time and always asked me more questions than I did him.

Leave your preconceptions behind, give him a chance.

Prince

I've never met Prince but he has walked by me a few times at bars.

I have had dinner with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis after a club with some friends.

And I used to run into Jimmy every once in a while at parties after that, and he always said hi...he is a really nice guy. ok

Have met Duff numerous times, got a bunch of picks.  My aunt is friends with Duff's sister. Duff is one of the most gracious musicians i have met, along with Dave Grohl.
Slash, got a pick
Dave Kushner, got a pick
Scott Weiland, i have heard all of the storeis but i tell you what when i met him, he was way cool, i was totally surprised.
Matt Sorum
Dave Grohl, by far one of the most genuinely nice musicians i have met.
Taylor Hawkins
Joe Elliott
Viv Campbell
Phil Collen
Nikki Sixx
Taz Bentley
Eddie Vedder
CC Deville, another great guy.

All of the above were very friendly , but like i said Duff and Dave Grohl really are the most sincere. The rudest individual i have met, well not met was in the vicinity of, and this person is not in the band ..Def Leppard's tour manager. I think his name was Malvin, short bald guy. Major asshole. Very rude and pushy. He damn near pushed a couple's little girl out of his way. Her husband had to get up and move her. And mind you this was not even at the venue or no band members were present. The ladies husband said to him you need to watch were you are going, and this guy turned around and said , Do you know who i am ? Hell i had no clue until i heard a Leppard groupie talking about it at the table behind us. Major jerk. I dont know how that guy contained himself, althoug he did say if my child was not here i would have showed him i really dont care who you are. A really close friend of mine is in charge of the backstage medical unit at Post Gazette in Burgettstown PA, usually hooks me up when a band i like is in town. Which is nice. Apparently he had problems with the same guy. Shit like that is just messed up. He told me Vivian Campbell apologized to his staff for there tour managers behavior.

Still would like to meet Izzy Stradlin.

I've met Skid Row- minus Sebitchian Bach. Very nice guys. Rachel Bolan was kinda standoffish, but Snake and Scotti Hill were cool as fuck- so was their "new" singer, Johnny Solinger.

Met Korn back in the mid 90's when they were opening for Danzig and Manson. They were nice guys.  I had the chance to walk up to Manson and meet him, but didn't due to 2 HUGE bodyguards he had with him. I was afraid of getting pummeled if i got "too close".

I've hung out with a band called DOPE. I don't know if anyone here listens to them, but they were really cool guys.

Met David Draiman from Disturbed. Arrogant as hell. Guy comes off as having a "my shit don't stink" attitude.
