It's that time of the year when everybody looks back at the past 12 months and makes all kinds of "Best Of" lists.

Here's your chance, what's your GN'R highlights of 2012?

Backpacking for a concert  alone in Basel,June 27 and having to leave during November Rain in order to get to the bus to the airport on time...Got to meet Bubble and DJ though before the show so it was worth it  yes

Sofia,July 8 front row probably at the best and longest show of this leg.We threw a Greek flag on stage and Axl's assistant got it backstage.Too bad Axl didn't put it on his shoulders like in Athens 06... Tongue

All 7 GN'R shows I seen this year, was very fortunate to see shows in the UK, Ireland, France and Holland. Meeting a whole host of great GN'R fans from the boards, with whom we shared stories etc... GREAT times.  Grin

Meeting Frank before the show in Newcastle, UK... got to speak to him briefly and had a photo taken with him.  Grin

And just all of the amazing shows and performances from the band.  drool

One moment stands out in particular, which took place at the Nottingham show. I was in the front row, with BurnDizzy who's real name is Phil, anyway great guy. And during WTTJ, which I filmed in HD (iphone 4), I was SO close to the stage. And was probably the closest I had ever been in the 30 shows I've seen all over the world. So during WTTJ, Axl comes to our side of the stage and actually see's me filming and comes closer, he steps down to the step which is lower than the stage floor. And Axl Rose was literally 1 metre in front of me performing WTTJ... UNBELIEVABLE.  love love love Also got rediculously close to the other members too during the show...  peace

Thanks to GN'R for yet another amazing year, here's to the next.  beer

Meeting Axl & all the band in UK! Followed them around. Glasgow was my favourite gig.. Although izzy at O2 was also a highlight. Dare I mention it but trip to Cleveland to see rock n'roll hall of fame induction was also great. A good year of old and new!

I saw 4 GNR shows this year. Each one was pretty unique. I got to take my family to all but one of them too.

-The first was in Detroit for the Up Close and Personal tour. As I arrived at my hotel I got a call from my employer (Netflix) and was informed that I along with a couple dozen other Managers were being laid off that day. That show was crazy good and made my night after a shitty day. The Jager shots also helped. hihi

-The other 3 were all in Vegas where I moved to start a new job. My first full month here was an absolute blast and it coincided with Appetite for Democracy perfectly. Finally got to hear Catcher in the Rye live which I hope becomes a regular part of their set. What more can you ask for in a new city but seeing your favorite band a few times?

Bring on 2013!! I am ready to travel and explore new cities wherever Guns are playing.

Saw Guns 4 times this year.  I think the highlight was the 11/23 show.  Loved 14 Years and Dead Flowers with Izzy.  Bridge School night 2 was pretty cool with Don't Let It Get You Down with Neil Young.  Overall a great year!!   peace

Seeing GNR for the first time since 2006, let alone twice! Seeing them anytime is special, but having the ones this year be the first night of Bridge and the last night of the Vegas residency made it all even sweeter, as did my absolute love and appreciation for GNR returning at full force.

Milano!! The only show I attended last year. My expectations was that the show would be shorter than usual, because it was a festival, and I worried about curfew....Boy was I wrong! It was probably one of the longest sets they played in 2012, and full gas all the way. Cool with Baz joining on My Michelle. Cool to see them perform Civil War and Estranged for the first time. All in all a heavenly experience  smoking

Youtube-highlights in 2012 was Izzy joining and seeing TWAT and Catcher back on the setlist.

Many Gn'R highlights for 2012 ...  Grin  So many gigs, and special appearances for the band members (Bridge school, jimmy kimmel for example)

for me personally:

 - VEGAS - my first time there in that crazy place and the combination of two incredible shows in a great venue, plus the hotel be-decked in GnR stuff, plus being with my hard rocking partners in crime sexkitten and derby greg, catching up with friends plus meeting other board members = a total fucking blast!  beer  The whole residency was just a great event in itself, I wanted to stay the whole month!
 - Palma -  I loved the outdoor venue - a beautifully warm summer evening, with Axl sounding poss the best from all the gigs I went to this year, plus Izzy popping in, great company, great gig
 - The fun i had planning and going to all the gigs with great friends from here and soaking up so much GnR live.  Hearing Estranged and Civil War  beer Special mention for Street of Dreams - that song got more powerful every time I heard it this year
 - Izzy joining on 14 Years in London, I learnt to play this on the piano when UYI2 came out, that was such a treat to hear that live  Smiley  And also the London show being filmed, whenever that comes out, that will be great to see and re-live.
 - getting a setlist from the Manchester show - I used to collect setlists from gigs as a young teen and to finally have a GnR one... the little geek in me was rather delighted  Grin
 - on the whole - the sound for all the gigs I went to was really good, I know there are many contributing factors in sound at a venue (venue itself, set-up, shape, indoor/outdoor etc) - but it was a really good mix out front generally.  ok

its been a busy year for GnR - let the good times keep rolling  ok  Massive thanks GnR, management, crew -  you all work and rock so fkn hard and I hope you have as many 2012 highlights as we do!!  Grin

Wow, that's quite a few people who met Axl, band members, Jarmo etc. in this thread.

One highlight for me in 2012 would have to be hearing Catcher in the Rye played live.

I've seen them just once last year but it was a unforgettable night. I was a lot closer to the band than in 2010 (my first ever show) and also got to hear Estranged for the first time live.

But I was a bit disappointed by not staying after the show. I had to leave just after the show ended because my cousin needed to go to work tomorrow and that was my ride home. Axl came out to greet the fans at around 6 am, so I was really bummed that I missed it.

Hopefully I get to meet him next time I guess.  Smiley

Hope 2013 is at least as good as 2012 was.

It's that time of the year when everybody looks back at the past 12 months and makes all kinds of "Best Of" lists.

Here's your chance, what's your GN'R highlights of 2012?

/jarmo

My general highlights are the fact that I got to see GN'R 3 times, in 3 different cities in one year! Saw the UCaP Tour twice, once in Chicago where I was front row for the first time ever, then again two nights later in Detroit. Then I got to see the Appetite For Democracy show at HoB in Vegas (my favorite city on the planet!).

I have to say, I've seen a TON of Guns N' Roses concerts dating all the way back to 1991 and that UCaP show in Detroit earlier this year was *hands down* the best show I've ever seen them play. Ever. It was simply astounding. What I wouldn't give for a soundboard or even a good audience recording of it!

Jarmo - what's your highlight?

Mine was spending New Years Eve last year with everyone, that was fun.

Second best was the Hiro show in NYC in February. Great intimate show and met tons of people!

Third was meeting Izzy in Vegas in November.

Overall - seeing GNR so much in one calendar year was amazing. That's the biggest fact to me, being lucky enough to see them so much.

That must of been amazing to meet the man himself...  Grin If only I stuck around after the show with you guys, before heading back to Manchester Airport.  Embarrassed  Grin

I love reading all these highlights, 2012 was an amazing year to be a fan of GN'R... it keeps getting better and "Better".

Welcome To The Jungle in Nottingham was insane, being that close to Axl and the band was life changing.  love

Highlight was the UCAP show I saw and the Vegas Residency.  I think Axl's voice in February of 2012 was very strong.

Lowlight for me was the Hard Rock security guard that was a complete jerk blocking me off from asking Axl for a pic after waiting 2 hours for Axl.  To see him right there and almost having my dream of a pic with Axl only to be ruined by a big ugly obnoxious security guard was very disappointing.  I hope that security guard gets herpes.

"getting to meet Jarmo in person!"

This was undoubtedly my highlight as well. What charisma, what personality....overwhelmed. We cried...(it was beautiful)......

Oh, that and the EIGHT unbelievable shows I saw. Vegas blew me away. Sexkitten, Babydolls Joe, everyone I met, hung out with. I heard some great stories, got hit on too many times, had some BIG nights. Most of all the music. It was incredible the band blew me away every time I saw them and made me realise how lucky I was to have seen them so many times over the years.

Oh and meeting Jarmo, what a legend....dude, OH MY GOD. Can I have an autograph ??!!!!

UCAP in MD  and 3 shows at Vegas Residency were concert highlights.

The other big highlight for me were the two letters Axl wrote regarding the Hall of Fame induction.  Even though I had a ticket and wanted to see Axl there (didn't go after 1st letter) I thought those letters were classics and hilarious!  I think blowing off the HoF was much cooler than actually going along for the ride.

But isn't the subject started by Jarmo 'your 2012 GN'R Highlights'? It was 2012 and Guns N' Roses were inducted. Did I misread something?

Yeah, I know. I was there-truly to see the Faces out of anyone. Isn't it amazing when the lead singer doesn't attend and it has such an effect on people? And as for Yauch, given that mention of his death from cancer was soon after, I would think that his quality of life was so beyond the beyond in pain. I question your remark of why Yauch didn't attend? Is it to generally justify why certain band members show while others don't?

Yes your right... Guns N' Roses did get inducted in 2012 but they never attended the ceremony !!!
the ex members that performed at the ceremony have no part in Guns N' Roses 2012 so guess you answered your own question.

i dont want to take anything away from you for attending the ceremony, im just pointing out that it wasnt Gn'R that performed at the event  beer

I added the ceremony to my highlights. It was a celebration of the music and pretty moving as a life long fan of the band. Stop making a fuss!

No - I just thought it was odd that your dream concert was missing so many important members of the various bands - had nothing to do with why they didn't show, that's all.

Thanks for pointing that out. But I don't think I answered my own question. I was just stating a response to what I thought the subject was about.

And, fyi, the Beastie Boys didn't perform either.

There were more people in the audience than me, I assure you. Watch the broadcast if you're in doubt.

No - I just thought it was odd that your dream concert was missing so many important members of the various bands - had nothing to do with why they didn't show, that's all.

You called out people by name that didn't show up. And now your putting forth your thought of it being 'odd'. If someone who is of sound mind and able body did not show up, that's a different story. But don't be completely presumptuous and call someone out for now showing up when they were debilitated by something well beyond their control. Hillel Slovak from the Chili Peppers and Ronnie Lane from the Faces didn't show up either. And by your rationale......that has nothing to do with it, right?

The title of the thread is 'you're 2012 GN'R highlights'

Not one single member of the current Guns N Roses attended or performed at the ceremony.
Yes Guns N Roses got inducted and I'm not trying to take anything away from that, but you can't say the ex members that performed at the ceremony are Guns N Roses

you could always change the title of the thread to
'You're velvet revolver highlights' or 'you're slash and friends highlights'

Technically Axl and Dizzy were still inducted so your argument is a stretch.

Couldn't agree more, agree with Wadey on this one. Guns N' Roses in 2012, had nothing to do with the HOF, so counting that as a GN'R 2012 highlight is in my view rediculous... but that's just me.  yes

Also have to mention that another highlight for me, was every performance of Chinese Democracy and the intro build up. I loved it when the lights dimmed, and Massive Attacks 'Splitting The Atom' started to play. Then the Chinese face appears on the side screens, and the build up begins... to the band exploding on the stage in glorious fashion.

GN'R easily have the best intro of any band ever, I'm even going to get that Chinese face tattooed on my arm, to remind me of the amazing shows of 2012.  Grin

Could have sworn AXL specifically asked not to be inducted in his first letter, or have anybody accept it on his behalf
