Former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler participated in the filming of "44 of the Most Ferocious Drummers" this past weekend at the Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood, California.

Hosted by former Atlantic Records rock drummer and music radio host Billy McCarthy, "44 of the Most Ferocious Drummers Ever" will be a kinetic mix of interviews, rare performance footage, and commentary from legendary drummers along with their esteemed colleagues, family, and friends who know them best, offstage and on.

The show will be produced by Braxton Pope of Ithaka Entertainment.

"I contacted legendary record producer Andy Johns (LED ZEPPELIN, THE ROLLING STONES) and the godfather of drummers, Carmine Appice (ROD STEWART, VANILLA FUDGE) and shared with them my vision of this show," said Billy McCarthy, host and producer of "44". "When two of the industries finest with a combined 250 million albums to their credit immediately and graciously agree to take part ? it confirms what I sensed all along ? it's about time a program came along and paid due respect to the drummer ? after all, without a great drummer, something terrible happens to a band. Nothing. Every drummer and every drum rep is simply ecstatic about this show. Who doesn't love a drummer?"

The producers are also assembling an expert panel comprised of some notable major music magazine editors including Bill Miller, editor-in-chief of Modern Drummer magazine to lend a small hand in coordinating the order of the most ferocious drummers from 44 to number one.

"This is far from a competition," notes producer Braxton Pope. "Every drummer featured is featured for one reason and one reason only ? they are the foundation to the heaviest bands, the hit songs, and even the hit solo artist's they helped define. These are drummers who don't skip through performances ? they run the marathon while drumming, combining showmanship and power while locking in the beat. Drummers whose talent and performance transcends their traditional status."

According to a posting on Adler's official fan site, Steven said that they had a drum kit set up upstairs at the Rainbow where they filmed him playing live. He was interviewed for the movie as well. Making the event even more special, his old GUNS N' ROSES buddy Slash showed up with the wife and kids to show their support.

In other news, Adler's official fan site is hosting another previously unreleased ADLER'S APPETITE song, "Keep Satisfied", featuring the lineup of Sheldon Tarsha on vocals, Keri Kelli on guitar, Robbie Crane on bass, and Adler on drums.

I'm delighted for Steven, I really want to see this guy come back out on top. He's an amazing talent and was the best GnR drummer. Nice of Slash to show his support too.

CHARLIE BENANTE, STEVEN ADLER Featured In 'The Most Ferocious Drummers Ever' Trailer - Jan. 5, 2008

A trailer for "The Most Ferocious Drummers Ever" ? a featured television special currently in production which chronicles the lives and careers of over 50 legendary drummers in jazz, funk, rock, metal, and alternative music ? can be viewed at this location: http://www.billymccarthy.com/fd/. Among the musicians that appear in the special are Hall of Fame drummer Marky Ramone (RAMONES), Tommy Lee (M?TLEY CR?E), Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX) and Steven Adler (GUNS N' ROSES).

The TV special is hosted and produced by former Atlantic Records rock drummer Billy McCarthy (a.k.a. ex-D'MOLLS member Billy Dior) and feature film producer Braxton Pope of Ithaka Entertainment and features a kinetic mix of personal interviews, commentary, and performance clips entirely shot in high-definition. The special is projected for a 2008 release.

"I'd say it's about time a program came along and paid due respect to the drummer ? after all, without a great drummer, something terrible happens to a band. Nothing," said McCarthy.

Notes Pope, "Every drummer featured is featured for one reason and one reason only ? they are the foundation to the heaviest bands, the hit songs, and even the hit solo artists they helped define."

"The Most Ferocious Drummers Ever" delves into the drummer's childhood, the first arrival in the audition room with their chart-busting band mates, the sewing of that first hit song ? their high (and lows) with those band-mates and then there's "every drummers hero," according to McCarthy, "agreed upon from Max Weinberg to Chad Smith of the CHILI PEPPERS to Charlie Benante of ANTHRAX. The king of the back-beat is Ringo Starr."

Billy McCarthy is a former Atlantic Records recording artist and Los Angeles radio talk show host. He is the author of the debut novel "The Devil of Shakespeare", the first novel ever to include a title song to a novel written by the author. Aside from producing film and music, Billy continues to write. His next book is "Beat Me Til' I'm Famous". Billy McCarthy currently resides in Chicago and is a member of the Society of Midland Authors.

Blabbermouth tells me that...

"The guy that is putting the documentary together says the link wasn't meant
to be made public."

So I guess yes, we will have to wait. Undecided
