Dark Day in Entertainment world

We've just learned Michael Jackson was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Los Angeles ... and we're told it was cardiac arrest and that paramedics administered CPR in the ambulance.

He was picked up at his home around 20 minutes ago -- we're told his mother is on the way to visit him.

UPDATE: The 911 call came in at 12:21PM at his Holmby Hills home in L.A.

UPDATE: A Jackson family member tells TMZ Michael is in "really bad shape" and the brothers are headed to UCLA.

UPDATE: We just got off the phone with Joe Jackson, Michael's dad, who says "he is not doing well."

LOS ANGELES -- Pop star Michael Jackson has been taken to UCLA Medical Center by ambulance suffering from cardiac arrest, fire officials confirm.

Los Angeles Fire Department Captain Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a 911 call at Jackson's home around 12:26 p.m. He was not breathing when they arrived. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda says.

It's unclear what he was being treated for or what his current condition may be.

Just an unbelievable tragic life this guy had. the highest of highs, lowest of lows and he was about to rewrite history in a few weeks.

He passed a 4 and a half hour physical in March.

Just speculating but u have to wonder if this is a Heath Ledger type situation.

This really saddens me.  I hate to see peaceful people go.  I hope it's not final...but from what I've read, it looks like the end.

Damn.  This is incredibly sad.

It doesn't seem 100% confirmed just now. Fox News still aren't saying he's dead...

I read a Yahoo news story a few minutes before I posted originally, that said "Updated 4 minutes ago:  Michael Jackson Dead."  Hopefully that was premature.  Terrible news.

I think the scariest part of the write-up was when they said, "He lived most of his last years in virtual seclusion..." or something like that.  I don't ever like seeing that and thinking about other certain famous musicians.  It saddens me.

He was the biggest musical entertainer of my life time.  So full of talent and probably the best pure entertainer I have ever seen.  Elvis, the Beatles, and Micheal Jackson, all in a league of their own.  When he was on, nobody was better.  He was only 50, that just a few years older than Axl..  This sucks... Cry

Rest in Peace MJ.

Such a shame his career has been overshadowed by the paedophilia accusations. Hopefully now he can be remembered for his amazing musical career.....
