Just wondering what equalisation settings people here use to replicate Slash's parts and to cut through the mix when playing solos over the rhythm guitarists power chords. Also, would just turn it on for the solos or for the whole songs? He didn't press his own pedals, so its hard to know. In particular what settings for the intro to Sweet Child O' Mine would be best. I know you have to increase the intensity of the upper harmonics.

The mids are sweeped on the amp.  The solos are boosted with an EQ pedal replacing the mids.
What the settings are kind of depends on what you are using unless you have Slash's exact rig.
SCOM intro; neck pickup and roll the tone knob on the guitar down to half.

Well, Slash used the bride pickup rolled back tone to 0 for SCOM actually ...

and solo's are simply a mid boost in the EQ pedal stage... in the FX loop for the best output.  You'll find only a small amount is needed.  Too much and you'll feed back like a fucking bitch!

dont give out advice unless its correct! slash uses the neck pickup for scom's leads (minus the 2nd half of solo and outro) and the tone is rolled down about half-way or maybe alittle bit more depending on the guitar and how new the strings are...........
