Tradition doesn't mix blood.

Actually, it is not stupid, although uneducated, because " pure" genes lead to defects.

But they go back home to find someone whose genes are similar in order to breed.

Everyone has done it for thousands of years, some still do, like you don't find many mixed race marriages, even nowadays.

It has onoy to do with money on one side and genes on the other.

Actually, inbreeding produces just as many positive attributes as negative.

See I thought you weren't supposed to marry immediate family or cousins because a baby could wind up seriously mentally handicapped or deformed or with a serious medical condition. I understand keeping the same race due to tradition but not the same family.

The keeping it in the family thing has to do with a material heritage ( usually, money, land, ect).

This way, providing parents had a girl, they marry her to a cousin and the heritage stays in the same family.

In ancient egypt, fathers married daughters, mothers shared thrones with sons, and brothers and sisters married too.
This way, the throne would stay in the same blooline, the " holy bloodline".
