Aerosmith Annouces 2004 North American Tour

Band to Tour In Conjunction with Forthcoming Album Release Honkin? On Bobo

Cheap Trick Announced as Special Guests!

Boston, MA- January 16, 2004- Aerosmith has announced a 40-city North American tour in support of their 14th studio album, Honkin? On Bobo. Scheduled to kick off in the US in March 2004, the tour will hit cities in both the US and Canada through June. Clear Channel Entertainment, the world?s leading promoter and marketer of live entertainment, will promote and produce the tour. Cheap Trick has been announced as the tour?s special guest.

Universally renowned as America?s premiere rock band, Aerosmith?s tour promises to be nothing short of spectacular with the band performing classic hits from their 30+ year career, as well as new material from their upcoming album, Honkin? On Bobo. Aerosmith?s 2004 arena tour comes on the heels of their co-headlining tour with Kiss, which received critical acclaim from both fans and critics alike, and was also one of 2003?s top-grossing concert outings.

Aerosmith also recently announced that they will headline the Super Bowl XXXVIII pre-game show at Reliant Stadium in Houston on Sunday, February 1st. Aerosmith opened the NFL season with a performance in Washington, D.C. at ?NFL Kickoff Live,? will perform in the finale of the pre-game show featuring a tribute to NASA.

With over 20 album releases and more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, Aerosmith continues to be one of the most enduring and exciting forces in American rock music today. The band - Steven Tyler (vocals), Joe Perry (guitar), Brad Whitford (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass) and Joey Kramer (drums) - has obliterated the generation gap and has also spearheaded some of the most important trends in pop music with each new release-- from groundbreaking early 70?s heavy metal to the invention of the power-ballad to the first fusion of rock and hip hop. Their new album, Honkin? On Bobo, will hit record stores in spring 2004.

Aaaarrrggghh! They've been touring the US non-stop for the past three years... when are they gonna come to the UK, damnit?! And will they bring Cheap Trick along with them if they ever do (I for one, hope so - they really are the kings of power pop-rock).

HONKIN' ON BOBO due out March 30

Due out March 30--the band's return to its roots promises to be a hard driving gritty collection of tracks unmistakably Aerosmith, and brimming with interpreted covers of blues greats such as Muddy Waters, Fisher / Hopkins and Blind Willie McTell.

Reconnecting with class of '77 Aerosmith alum and producer Jack Douglas, whose last fully original project with the band was Draw The Line, is bound to take Bobo to place that is both familiar and exciting for longtime fans of the band.

Track Listing
1 Road Runner
2 Shame, Shame, Shame
3 Eyesight To The Blind
4 Baby, Please Don't Go
5 Never Loved A Girl
6 Back Back Train
7 You Gotta Move
8 The Grind
9 I'm Ready
10 Temperature
11 Stop Messin' Around
12 Jesus Is On The Main Line

Picture of album cover.

I found the name of that song on the soundtrack for "Rugrats Go Wild" it's called "Lizard Love". I never thought they would do a song for that movie. I have to hear that song and see how it is.

Got "Honkin' On Bobo" this afternoon. I've only listened to it once so far, but my first impression is very good. As a longtime Aerosmith fan who has enjoyed all their releases since their reunion in the 80's, I have to say this is a long over due return to the glory days of the 70's.

Calling this a blues album might throw some people off. I for one love blues music, but this album is not in the style of what you might think goes with that style. This isn't the slow moody style of a Muddy Waters or B.B. King. This is blues on steroids. This is dirty, in your face, amps turned up loud as they will fucking go Blues/Rock.

Steven Tyler seems to be in very strong voice and Joe Perry lets loose with some licks the likes of which I wasn't too sure he was still capable of. Listen to "Baby, Please Dont Go" for the best example. The Super Bowl performance didn't do this song justice. The biggest surprise for me was their total redesigning of The Whos "Eyesight To the Blind" from the classic rock opera "Tommy". Good stuff.

I'll be interested to see the reaction from their "newer" fan base that got into Aerosmith because Alicia Silverstone and the "Beyond Beautiful" Liv Tyler were in their videos.

I think the fans that have been with them from the beginning will love the return to their roots. Hopefully the Rolling Stones will give this a listen too before they get the idea to do release anymore albums.

4 days until I get to hear it all Live beer

Yeah, I got the Harmonica also.

It's odd to consider someone thats been into the band for almost 20 years now a "new breed" fan. Just another testament to how long this group has survived. I think Permanent Vacation was the last album that fit the old Aerosmith style. I love all the stuff that has come out since but thats the last one that when I listen to it, I think it fits with the Toys In the Attic, N(R)ight In The R(N)uts era.

I should add that on this new album there is one true Blues style song. "Jesus Is On The Mainline" would fit perfectly into the "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack and nobody would even think twice about it. I missed that song somehow when I first listened to the CD.
