AFD is the greatest LP ever!

« on: March 03, 2004, 03:47:42 AM »

What ever happened to that album?  Now don't get me wrong, NOTHING could replace the original release and that classic line-up,but i'm curious to hear how it sounds.  And it's more reasonable for that to come out before Chin.Dem. because it's of songs already previously released......Damnit Axl, release something already!!! and this wait better fuckin' be worth it!

*Apparently* the re-recording of AFD was meant to be released in '99 to keep fans going until CD was released, however this turned into Live Era being released instead with a lot of AFD-era tracks.

Would still love to hear it.

No, I would rather have CD than AFD.  I already know all of the songs from AFD, sure it would be cool to hear them re-recorded, but I have not been waiting for a long ass fucking time for a re-recording.  I want CD and I want it NOW!! rant

I would like to hear the album, but it would be a huge step backward for a band trying to step out from under the shadow of its former self.

Maybe they should host it as a free download at gnronline.com ... that'd get some use our of their bandwidth (Lord knows they aren't doing anything else with it).

I love AFD. But I love hearing the new band play those songs live. But I don't care about a re-do of that album. They could not possibly make it any better than what they did back 15+ years ago.

New material.

I never really got why AFD had to be re-recorded. Huh Shocked

I'd be interested in hearing it and comparing it with the original, just out of curiosity though. yes

But, I'd rather hear CD!!! smoking beer

The new sound and guitar setup on the songs would provide for a really interesting good listen I imagine. I love it from what I hear from the 02 boots so far.

Nodody is asking people to like it better than the original.

Its just something cool to listen to. Id buy it the second it was out.

But as for screw chinese democracy.. no way.. thats what I really want.

AFD is the greatest LP ever!

I like Kockstar99's idea of packaging the "new" AFD with Chinese Democracy.  That way if the AFD is a "bonus" cd it won't seem like it would cheapen the band (looking to the past) as if they released it as a sole LP.  But it would be kinda neat to compare sounds created in 1987 to ones created in 2004 (or whenever hell they rerecorded it...1999?)  The same technology won't exist, so not every song would sound the same....and they ARE played by different musicians too.  But it could never replace the original recording, that is the greatest ever.  Even if they put it out (the new version) it would be alot better than most of today's albums that come out now........I guess all we will have that is closest to it would be Velvet Revolver's "Contraband" cd.

The rerecorded AFD was not recorded with the new band smoking
