What's up everybody.

My buddies and I flew out to Vegas this weekend and went to the Saturday night show.  I've been to like 10 GnR shows, all in the NYC area previously.  I'll give the band credit.  They really brought it.  3 plus hours.  Lot of intensity.  Sounded really good, although if I'm being totally honest Axl sounded better as the concert went on.  November Rain from the suspended piano 8' above my head was just ridiculous.

So, this specifically brings me to why I am posting.  At the end of the show Axl tosses the mic into the crowd like he always does.  Every single show I have ever been to it has been my dream to grab it.  It lands like 10 feet away from my friend and I.  The guy standing next to us picks it up and my buddy immediatly says "I'll give you $100 for that right now."  Amazingly the guy says '"Sure". He gives it to us.  We have the freaking thing.  We are jubialiant.  We are extatic.  5 seconds later security walks over and orders us to give him the mic back.

I have seen Axl toss the mic at EVERY show I have been to, and I have never seen security ask for it back. Complete and utter bullsh*t if you ask me.

Why throw the freaking thing into the crowd and cause a goddamn riot if you are just gonna ask for it back?  Forget about the thing breaking or getting stepped on.  The guy gave us our $100 back, but it ruined what would have been the single greatest concert experience of my life.

So, here's my question.  What is the status quo regarding the 'mic toss'?  Do they always ask for it back, or did we just get screwed?  I'm still pretty pissed off about it.

Also, if anyone else was at this show this old guy got his ass absolutley kicked in about half way through the show.

A few guys showed up and decided that were gonna start crap with people.  They intentionally stand right in front of this older guy even though they didn't have to, basically just to piss him off.  He tells them to move to the side.  20 seconds later this guy is on the ground getting positively POUNDED on.  It took security like a minute to get there too.  It was a pretty pathetic thing to see.  No need for it happen whatsoever either.  Some people just completely suck.

That is completely bullshit. I thought they were over that by now....saw it happen in 2006....at the Joint. I know it's not the band doing it. I have seen a couple people get it in this last run, and there didn't seem to be any hassle with security. But last week, the night Axl was handed the wrong mic at the end, and you couldn't hear him, he just lightly tossed in frustration...I heard security grabbed that one as well. For the most part the "security" at the HR has ALWAYS been a bunch of shit. Sadly, they don't seem to be getting any better.

Thanks for replying dude.  Yeah.  It's a total bummer.  I'm really into memorabilia and like 2 seconds after we had it I had such grand ideas for it.  I was gonna buy a shadow box and frame it with a photo from the show.  The used mic for my favorite band of all time from a Saturday Night Vegas show that I was at.

And I had it in my hands! It would have been sick. AHHHH!!!!

It's fucking bullshit.  If Axl knows he should tell them to quit it immediatly.  Don't toss something into a rabid group of your biggest fans at 3AM and then ask for it back.  I mean, what the hell is that?

Real rock n' fucking roll of them I tell ya.

I live in Vegas, and the Joint is probably my favorite venue anywhere....BUT, the biggest complaint I hear about it, is their "security" team. I'm sure if it were brought to the right person's attention, the security would be told to stop. However, personally, I think the security dude who get's it, is just keeping it for himself. They're not returning it to the band.

As soon as he took it he showed it to one of his cronies that was peering down from the stage, so the minimum they are working as a team to fuck people over.

Look, I love Axl, but after like 8-10 shows out there he should know/care that he is tossing the thing into the crowd for nothing.  I find it pretty hypocritical of The Joint to be so ruthless when it comes to moshing or being rowdy, yet they let Axl fucking Rose toss a used mic into a drunken crowd at 3AM where people dive in like it's a fumble in an NFL game for ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING.

Either let people keep it, or tell him not to toss it. Period.

Fuck you The Joint.

I read about security taking the mic at other shows to basically keep for themselves. I thought Beta chimed in and said that the band never asks for them back. It was a long time ago though.

I caught the mic at a Cleveland show and immediately stuffed it into my pants. People were still looking for it on the floor. Bummer you got yours taken away.

Here at the Hard Rock, I see a sign that says Bumblefoot & Tony Harnell are playing this Fri night at 12am. No cover!
Haven't seen this posted anywhere else on this site so I figured I should post it.
Anyone know anything about this? Is this Bumblefoot's solo band playing???

Bumblefoot is playing at Vinyl, next to the Joint on a day off.

So it doesn't collide with the GN'R shows.
