Chinese Democracy out 2014!

« on: March 01, 2010, 06:54:40 AM »

"The Pacific is a 2010 ten-part television World War II miniseries, produced by HBO, Seven Network Australia and DreamWorks, which will premiere March 14, 2010."

Anyone else waiting for this minieries to start?
I'm very interested in the history of WWII, especially memoirs and other realistic documentaries, so this is something I've been waiting for since Band Of Brothers. I've read the book by E. B. Sledge and I really hope they've captured the same atmosphere on screen too; the book is very well written and gives the reader a good image of the things a marine had to witness during these campaigns and how it all changed the mind of the marine.

Really looking forward to watching this miniseries. Band of Brothers is amazing and one of my favorite films ever! If it's as half as good as Band of Brothers, than it will be fantastic.  Smiley

Looking forward alot to this, am also pretty interested in WW2. Read alot of books about it in the past years a few Don Burgett books (He was in A compagny of the 506), Brothers In Battle, Best Of Friends (The Bill G and Babe Heffron book), Dick Winter's bio, Sgt. Don Malarkey, David Webber's Parachute Infrantry, Who Are Alive And Remain - Untold BoB Stories and the list go on..

Gonna watch The Pacific first and then buy the 3 books it's based on. 'Old Breed' is suppose to be a killer book..

Also gonna go to Berchtesgaden and Zell Am See this summer vacation Cool

Just checked the first episode, it was great! Of course as it was the first part it was pretty much only an introduction to the main characters and to the war itself, but anyway.. better than I even expected! The scene with the Japanese soldier standing and screaming with the Americans laughing at him was pretty harsh.

Can't wait for the next part Smiley

The first two episodes have been okay, but I hope it gets a lot better.

It's been pretty good so far, but I think it's missing something, not sure what

I almost get the feeling they're going too deep into the characters as opposed to the War , which is causing it to drag just a bit

The combat scenes are really good, and it's still very early, so we'll see how the rest plays out
