Most rock music sucks. It's good to have a few centuries of European classical music to fall back on.  Smiley Li Jie is wonderful in a beautiful way, not cute or trendy. She does a great job with these timeless pieces. I've never heard rock played as well as this, and very little metal is this technical.

Now that's guitar playing.  I lost count of the number of different chord shapes she used.  It's fair to say I will never be that good!  It puts that Fred Durst solo to shame somewhat  Grin

I think it's a little unfair to compare that to rock/metal in the sense that you're looking for different things in the types of music.  Rock is supposed to 'rock' and metal is largely supposed to kick ass and you won't necessarily get that from listening to classical guitar.  It's not headbangers music put it that way.  I don't know of any metal bands that get quite as technical as the first clip.  Opeth have their moments but even they aren't at that level.  Maybe some metal guitarists get as technical but it's often as a shredding blur and going through scales, not really a planned out and timed piece of music.
